New bed advice - Silentnight or not

We were considering buying a Silentnight Miracoil 5 two drawer 4' 6" divan from Benson's Beds but are now having second thoughts having read some of the posts on here. It sounds like we might be paying £599 for the name. It is a very comfortable bed but if there is something equivalent and cheaper I'd love to hear about it. Any suggestions?

Don't buy the Silentnight. My son and d-i-l bought the Miracoil, it lasted just over 12 months and the sides then collapsed. They then bought a Rest Assured (part of same group as Silentnight) mattress and less than two years later they've got major problems with it and are looking to replace it.
We've recently bought a La Romantica Madrid and it is excellent. Don't know how it compares comfort-wise with the Miracoil you like (and we all like different things) but it's a medium-firm pocket sprung with memory foam. You can get a 2-drawer 4'6" divan for £450 ish.
My mother bought a KozeeSleep Duchess and says it is the best bed she's ever had. It is a medium pocket sprung but a fair bit more expensive than our Madrid.
I'd also stay away from the likes of Bensons, Dreams, etc. They are overpriced. With a bit of research you should be able to do a lot better.0 -

Sealy are the same company as Silentnight. Personally I wouldn't touch either with a barge pole.0 -
Agree about silentnight miracoil..we bought one just over 5 years ago from dreams in one of their many sales and now really need a new one soon. First off the springs in the top of the divan base started to make squeaks which was a bit annoying. Now it seems like the divan frame has sagged and one side feels like your going to roll off when you lay on it. Also a spring or two can be felt pushing through the mattress now. I wake up most days with aches but not sure where we'll find the money to replace it!
So i'd be interested to know too which make to go for. We could get a wooden bedstead and mattress to match the rest of our bedroom furniture but always favoured a divan with storage drawers. Anyway won't be buying from silentnight again!
