Decking Book (DIY)

I am intending having a crack at puting some decking down. I'm reasonably handy but lack expertese in this area and am therefore looking for a text book. However a quick look at Amazon has brought up hundreds of options!

Can anyone recommend a decent, thorough book to guide me.

There is loads of useful information on the web, do a Google search for decking instuctions or something similar.

Also some of the big DIY shops and garden centres have free decking guides for customers, so it's worth having a look at your locals. We got a great booklet from a local garden centre which was all the info my OH needed to build our deck.

Hi Garyclay, would you believe I too want to have a crack at decking half the garden (small garden!!). I have looked at some prices and can't believe my eyes, whats the going rate? I have a patio at the mo that steps upto a lawn area. I am going to put a breeze block wall down, fix a timber frame then deck on that so it's level with the back door and the lawn.

Surely this can't cost over 600 quid!
