Royal Mail Con

I sent some low value tickets to a buyer last wed 3rd,i sent 1st class recorded,i kept checking website for tracking info but it just kept saying come back later,i contacted royal mail today(6 days after sending)who said that due to the contents being tickets i would not be covered, even though tickets had value of about £30,i called buyer who said she had received tickets and she wondered why postman never knocked for a signature,i called royal mail to complain and they apologised and are sending me 6 stamps to compensate.
im really mad that i paid for a service and royal mail did not provide, what if buyer had said she had not received tickets ,that would mean due to royal mails unreliability i would have been out of pocket, royal mail more like con mail.

Well, looking on the bright side, they delivered the tickets and you sold to a good honest person so you're not out of pocket...

Why don't they cover tickets if they get lost?

They say that they are classed as a valuable item,i thought anything within the £32 or under value range was included except cash and jewellery.

Interestingly I can't see a disclaimer that tickets are specifically excluded from the RM compensation if using Recorded delivery.:

    http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?mediaId=22700565&catId=500201#13300283

AS has already been said they just keep referring to valuable items plus cash and coins needing to be sent by special delivery. However I can't see why your £30 tickets are any more 'valuable' than say a £30 book sold on Amazon?

This is something that maybe we should all write to the ROyal Mail and ask , personally if i had been refused compensation and the RM couldn't link me online to the disclaimer then I would have reported them to PostWatch.

Likewise I understand that no china or glass items are covered at all, but I can't really see that specifically outlined either.

tickets are prolly excluded as the date on them can expire quickly

i.e. someone has a concert on the 20th and tickets only get posted on the 18th
    only by 1st class tho

people would attempt to claim off RM if they weren't delivered in time, even tho they were too stupid to use a guarenteed next day delivery service (1st class isn't guarenteed next day)

it's therfore easier to make a bulk statement NOT covering tickets, less problems that way
    money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

The thing for me though is that I can't see anything on the website that says that?

As you know I feel the same about RM as you do about paypal and it annoys me that RM can have policies that they don't make clear on their website. I'm not saying it isn't there but I can't find it doing a search and tickets are certainly not excluded on the RD FAQs. It makes me wonder what other policies they have that they don't tell us about and that is what worries me.

I might not be happy with certain terms and conditions that companies impose but if they are there in black and white then i can choose to agree or protect myself against them as best I can. I can't protect myself against policies that the RM choose to hide.

I think I am going to write to them and ask specifically about tickets and might add china items while I am at it....
