Don't ever be so silly, that's what we are here for.....
What about chicken cassserole? Lamb tagine? Chicken thigh curry? , chicken cacciatore? , chinese chicken and mushies , sweet sour chicken with coke , lamb casserole
leek and potato soup?A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Oooh thanks, I'll look at those, although I'm more a fan of 'chuck a load of stuff together' rather than following recipes to the letter! I want to get a bit more adventurous with spices and things though.
While I'm here, is it possible to make semolina or tapioca in the slow cooker? I know you can do rice pudding, but I don't like that!Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Mmm some good ideas there, I think I'll try the curry, and the sweet and sour - but will that work with lemonade, as I really hate coke.
I'll be adapting to what I've got in the cupboards though, but they sound good.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
yeah adapt away! They're only ideas. heaps more in the complete SC recipe collection
You could try the SC quick questions thread
Regards tapioca , i don't even know what it isbut found one person reference making it in the SC , or you could ask in this tapioca thread
Lemonade to replace coke ....ummmm.......... the coke idea comes from Nigellas Gammon in coke , so maybe browse there and see if you can replace the coke? or try italian chicken?
Any recipe can be adapted for the slow cooker *bar one or two exceptions I am sure* but all you need to generally do is halve the liquid as you dont lose much through evaporation?
Sorry dont feel im too helpful this eve. Bit brain dead and cant co ordinate looking at list of ingredients so thought i would just throw suggestions at you instead and hope one sticksA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

on reading about the coke it gives a sweet sticky non coke like flavour and its something to do with the brown sugar content.
Also chicken risotto from whats in your SC today. Great thread for inspiration of "throw ins!"A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

We found the Ham in Coke to be a waste of a good joint of meat. Followed Nigellas recipe but it wasn't to our liking at all.0

No, you've been really helpful! If it's only one can of coke then I'll give it a go - don't want to end up with a whole bottle of the stuff to get rid of. Although it is good for cleaning the toilet...
Just went to do the chicken curry but didn't have any curry powder! So I've thrown in Cumin, coriander and a bit of paprika, and I think I'm going to put a bit of ginger in too. Hopefully it'll work out ok, I've done a quick google and those spices are recommended for curries. Had to use garlic chopped toms too, but apparantly garlic's ok for curries as well.
Leave that lot in overnight and I can stick something else in tomorrow morning!Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Ames sounds a good combo alright! well done! Garlic will do no harm, either will ginger. Have you any black pepper? I would chuck some of that in but thats to my taste
Mummy - its a different recipe, using the coke principle - so not sure how different it would be (sweet and sour chicken)
Shame it was a waste, that thread was making my mouth water!A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Oooh thank you for the sago/tapioca/semolina links, I've got loads of milk that needs using soon too, so I'll have a go at that when I've done the meats. Can't wait, I bought two tins today and I bet they're not as nice as home made, and I can throw in fruits to mine too.
Also saw a recipe for peach cobbler, which I have all the ingredients for, not good for my diet!
Would I be able to freeze the desserts too?Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

Might be worth a try but we had a plain gammon joint a week later and it was lovely. Led me to believe that some things don't need tinkering with!0
