British Gas trying to steal my supply!!!
Comments
-
When I moved here, I called East Midlands Electricity (my supplier) with the two meter readings.
British Gas (a company with which I absolutely refuse to have any dealings) subsequently sent me a bill and told me, in the style of a prison thug, that I was their !!!!! now, simply because the previous owners had been their customer.
I told them what they could do and told them that as I had not been their customer, I would not be paying them. I didn't pay them, either.
My willingness to deal with British Gas came to an abrupt halt in 1998 when I moved out of a shared, rented house which had a pre-payment meter, to find that they were claiming £120 in gas which had been used but not paid for. They were not able to explain how this had been possible with a pre-payment meter. It took seven months for them to accept there was no possible liability, but they even went to the trouble in 2001 of sending a further letter demanding the £120. Fortunately I had kept their earlier letter.
Do not deal with British Gas: it will end in tears. Yours.Mortgage at outset (May 2004): £80,000

My understanding of the problem is that someone else in my stair has switched their suppliers and the meter numbers/references have gotten mixed up when the switch has been processed, so your original suppliers stop billing you, and yet no new bills ever come, and you are left non-plussed as to the reason for the switch in the first place!
I think it is a bit strange that once the switch process starts it can't be stopped - especially as accidental or unscrupulous incorrect switches seem to happen quite a lot (in my experience anyway!).
Most bizarre!! Its not really a tenement, but there are 4 houses in this block and we all share a communal door. So i guess a tenement really! lol Might go have a word with the neighbours and see what they say.Bringing up 2 handsome boys and 1 gorgeous girl the MSE way!Joseph born 19th December 2001Matthew born 8th August 2007Tara born 23rd January 20110
