Crack in iPhone plastic..but 2 months out of warranty?

Hi there,

I have an iPhone 3G which I purchased back in July 2008. On my holiday recently I noticed that there was a hairline crack around the docking port on the phone. After searching around it seems that these are common faults and are normally replaced under warranty. The phone has not been dropped.

However I'm 2 months out of my warranty, but still within my 18 month phone contract.

Is there anything I can say to Apple to help my cause getting them to fix or replace?

Many thanks,

Ben.

It's sounds glib but have you tried asking Apple? If you can get to an Apple Store and talk to one of their 'Geniuses' then even better (I'm told they can be very helpful.)
  • Yep.. that is next on my list. I do have a place near home so will visit. I just got back today and thought I would ask incase I come up against any resistance.
