  • We have a small acer notebook like that, and its OK but I find the screen a bit small for long useage.

They usually dont have any kind of DVD drive fitted so you wouldnt be able to watch dvds on it unless you downloaded them onto a memory stick of some kind.

Windows CE is not the same as Windows XP or Vista. And no, it is not the same as a laptop - wrong operating system, little memory, no hard disk... and so on. The specs say "3x USB for mouse / keyboard connection only (no external Hard Drive, USB memory stick or Optical Drive support) " It will undoubtedly enable you to browse the internet - but it doesn't say what with...

Suggest you look for a small laptop, say 13". Here is one of many possibilities where you can look. But if you really need a DVD drive (to watch DVDs!) remember that there is no DVD drive in any form of netbook - check carefully; laptops should have one.

As aforementioned, you'll be a lot better off with a more conventional Netbook or laptop. This Acer Aspire One for £150 is nearer the mark.
  • Get yourself tuned up with a vist to WH Smiths and a copy of PCPro mag Issue 181 Out Today. Oh and another NO from me....
  • Big no to the Maplin jobbie for me too, infact avoid any Win CE netbook.

As mentioned stick to a Linux or Win XP nased Netbook and you cant go wrong, maybe get a portable DVD player rather than an external DVD drive.

Win CE was originally used on personal organisers which became obsolete when mobile phones started getting a bit of functionality. That is just a big version of a personal organiser.

That is either very old stock indeed or some lunatic decided they wanted to lose a packet producing a virtually useless item.
