Finding people?

Hi all

I few years ago I was in touch with my birth mother (I'm adopted) however with one thing or another we lost touch. I've tried to get in touch with her again however I'm worried she has moved house. Does anyone know of a site that gives access to the Electorial Role for a reasonable (or free!) amount?

I tried 192 but it seems so expensive.

Has anyone tried this site?

192 is good, and there is usually free information available on there.

Otherwise Traceline can find anyone registered with a doctor or claiming benefits for about £15. They will not give you the address, but will pass a letter on.

did you meet her when you were in touch (or have you seen a photo of her) - possibly pop her name into facebook and see if she appears

They don't appear in the free information on 192 and she isn't on FB. I have their address from about a year or so ago but I need to know if they are still there.

123people will search for any online traces such as FB, Amazon accounts etc. If you have address can't you just use the phone book if they're not ex-dir?

    Hi Op

    few ideas

    Bt.com

Google - type her full name and the town in (y0u would be surprised)

Gumtree - for your town , maybe in the desperately seeking section?

There is a charity who can help? Or maybe I am imagining that. Let me think.

Do you know many friends who work in an office? Some have software that links to electoral role info, so if you put my postcode in for example, you would see my name come up and it confirms i am more than likley at that address.....
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

  • Hi Kimie,
Have a chat with the advice line at the post-adoption centre 020 7284 5879 - www.postadoptioncentre.org.uk they are used to dealing with this sort of thing and the people on the advice line are experienced and friendly (well, I find they are),
    good luck

You could write a letter to the occupiers of the address you have asking them if they have an address for your Mother (you could just say you are a friend) and would they be willing to forward a letter to her if they don't want to disclose her address to you. You could enclose a sae with it.

I could check on the 192 site if you want I have full access through a source I cannot comment on on this site, if you want to pm the details I could have a look for you tomorrow.
