My daughter gets cash in hand doing cleaning jobs in private houses ,she was asked to get a letter from the people she worked for declaring the amount she was earning and this was taken into account when calculating her benefits .
as long as tax etc is still being paid i think its ok. i think onw took it as cash in hand (on the sly)0 -

I don't mean cash in the hand on the sly, i would declare it. My friend is self employed as a cleaner and i know she always gets payed in cash ( well mostly)0

ETA: It's called in work credit.
In Work Credit
In Work Credit is a tax-free payment of £40 to lone parents (£60 for parents in London) who have been claiming benefits for a year or more and go back to work for at least 16 hours a week. In Work Credit is paid for a year on top of other working benefits. To find out more, speak to someone at your local Jobcentre Plus office
