Mortgage Assistance

Hi, I am hoping someone can help or advise me on here.
I am on Incapacity Benefit (I haven't yet been switched to the ESA or whatever it is called) and also on Income Support.
I applied for mortgage support help in May after my insurance policy ran out because I had been sick for so long. However, because I took out a remortgage back in 2003 to renovate and rebuild my home they are disregarding this part of the mortgage (about £60,000) for assistance.
I'm on long term sick leave and now permanetly disabled, i've been told its unlikely I will ever return to full time work. What on earth should I do? I've been in touch with my lender, and am appealling against the decision (any advice about appealling please?) but if the decision goes against me again, I'm guessing I'll be forced to sell my home (I have a fortune in unsecured debt; I'm unlikely to come away with more than pocket money). Any ideas? Anywhere else I can seek help?

Have you explained the reasons for the additional borrowing? Was it essential work?Gone ... or have I?0

Yes I have, they ignored all the information I supplied (which is why I am appealling). It was very essential work. I'm trying to figure out what happens if I lose the appeal...0

Did you provide receipts for the work you had done?which i assume amounted to the full amount of extra borrowing? If you did then it should be allowed if not then it is unlikely to be allowed, this is basically to avoid the state paying for remortgages that have been used to finance trips to disneyland and new 4x4`s0

It was 5-6 years ago, I don't have the receipts; I had a good job paying me a reasonable salary. It is the biggest bugbear about the system, if I was well enough to research and put all this information together, I'd be well enough to go back to work.0

without the receipts it may be difficult, can you contact the builder?they may be able to provide whats needed(possibly),this has been discussed before on here and whilst it may not seem fair, its how it is for the reasons i explained.0
