pre-renting question- is this cheeky?

We're looking to move in the next two weeks, have seen the place, done references, and I've now asked some things of the estate agent which I want checked with the landlord. I just wondered if you think this is reasonable or a bit cheeky.

The satelite dish is o the back of the house, and cable has been run up and over the roof, and its currently tied in a loop outside the living room window. Is it cheeky to ask for the landlord to run it in to the house?

Also, I dont remember seeing curtain poles or rails (not siged agreemet/inventory yet), is it cheeky to ask the landlord to supply/put them up?

And lastly, we want to move our stuff in on the 30th, but stay in our current house that night, starting our tenancy on the 1st (I get paid the last working day of the month, so would run the risk of it falling on the 31st in a month, whereas rent day being the 1st I'd know I always had it). Hubby is working night shfts on 1st and 2nd, so couldnt move in then, and van hire is twice as much on the weekends than if e move on the weds. Again, is this a bit cheeky?

  • 1. Not really you can ask, might split the labour costs with you tho.

    2. A bit, are there any blinds in place? Id be tempted to get my own.

    3. Depends how nice your landlord is, i always had really nice ones that would let you off for that one day. however you need to ask.
  • Re moving stuff in early there are, IIRC, legal implications of tenant gaining access/occupation of property before tenancy arises...

Ask him nicely... if it were me I might either say
    a) OK but only if I the LL are there as you move stuff in you ain't getting the keys... or
    b) Grant tenancy a starting a couple of days early but those days 4 free...

If he gives you the keys early but tenancy starts on 1st then ask here again & find out what special rights you've gained, if any...

    Cheers!
