Hi everyone, can anyone help me out here please?
Brief outline of my problem -
In March I got a parking ticket. I had bought a ticket and displayed it by the clocks in my car - it was clearly visible from the driver's window (the reason for placing it there was cos my boss the week before had shut his car door and the ticket had blown off the dash onto the floor).
I immediately sent the council an email, and a copy of my ticket with explanation which I have a copy of.
I appealed and it was turned down, so I appealed again and got told I could go through court if I wanted, which I decided to do.
They sent me the paperwok last week (how much!!) with photos of all round my car, including the driver's window, which shows nothing but the reflection off the glass. They included my email but without the picture of my ticket!
I have since lost the original ticket as I moved house. But I am trying to stand my gound on this as the tickets 'advise' you display them on the front dash - that to me is either not 'you must' or is ambiguous. I wonder where I stand in this case, as I was actually displaying a valid ticket.
Add to that I have been made redundant and the last thing I need is a fine!

Although you lost the original ticket, you still have a copy of it, right? If so, take the matter to the adjudicator. Many adjudicators have accepted that the ticket was indeed bought, then quashed the penalty.
This has to be the daftest logic yet. The ticket advises that you display it on the dashboard (when I read advice, I don't go looking for every reason to go against it) so what's wrong with just following the advice then watching the ticket as you shut the door? If it blows off, open the door and reposition ticket. If it doesn't (100% of the time for me), lock door and walk away. Simple.displayed it by the clocks in my car - it was clearly visible from the driver's window (the reason for placing it there was cos my boss the week before had shut his car door and the ticket had blown off the dash onto the floor)
I read so many sob stories about tickets that "fell down" or "blew over", yet a quick look before walking away from the car is all it takes.0 -

Is this yet another 'secret' Council.
omitting that detail means you get no advice specific to them?0 -
Ah well, cheers for the original advice Dave.
I was simply trying to make sure the warden could see the ticket, my humble apologies if you don't like my logic. I never expected to be patronised and it is no 'sob story'
The fact is that it was clearly displayed, I just wondered if the 'advised' to was legal or simply advice - I didn't read it till after the fact and certainly am not so bloody minded to purposely go against it if I had. I simply assumed if it was clearly displayed that was good enough. Would anyone be so kind as to clarify that for me, if they know?0 -

You may have a favourable response on www.pepipoo.com some very knowledgeable people on there.0 -
the problem is, you have 'lost' your ticket, while they have photo's of your car not displaying the ticket. buying the ticket isnt the thing, the display of a valid ticket is the kickerTarget Savings by end 2009: 20,000

Hi All,
i have just been given a penalty charge notice (PCN) from nottinghamshire county council. The contravention that is said to have occured is: parking for longer than permitted (code 30).
I may or may not have been there longer than i should have. My argument is, the ticket issued stated i was observed from 11:53 to 11:53. How can any ticketing officer possibly know i was over the allowed limit if the observation time was as stated on the ticket. I realise that this could just be the way the ticket is printed and there may (or may not), be other condemming evidence proving i was at fault (or not).
I do intend to challenge the ticket, i was just wondering if anyone knows (given the evidence), if will be cleared or not.
Thanks in advance,
