Healthy Start

Does anyone know which year your income needs to be below £16,040 to be eligible for healthy start milk vouchers?

Healthy start application form was just sent to me to fill out by child tax credits.

In last tax year I earned below the threshold
In last year (ie ending today) I earned well below the threshold
In this tax year I will earn close to the threshold (probably slightly above)
In this year (ie starting today) I will earn well above the threshold

I have never claimed before in fact I'd never even heard of it.

Anyone have a definative answer, when I check the FAQ online it simply says "do you have an annual family income of £16040 or less?" my question is when?

I know tax credits work on last tax year (but don't know if this is similar or not).

No - just child credit at the moment

If your income was lower last year TCO should base your award on the lower figure.Healthy Start should use that figure also as they will check your tax credit award.
  • Is there any reason why you are not claiming WTC?

[not being nosey you will be better of claiming WTC if eligble rather than the Healthy start vouchers]

As far as I know I'm not eligible. Honestly I haven't got a clue. I've just started work, after a year out of the country and a few months unemployment benefit.

  • You need to be working 16 hours to be entitled to TC.

I think that I am now claiming working tax credit - seems to have happened automatically looking at my bank statement for this month. Which I suspect means no longer eligible for the vouchers. Thanks to everyone who responded.

Appears from my bank account that you do if you were already claiming child tax credits, and revise your income details - I haven't asked for it - but its there and I'm not complaining.

Oh I see so you did actually apply for some form of credits then.
