Looking for a PS3 that's backwards compatible

Dug out the Playstation 2 last night and had a blast.
Haven't played any games in about 2 years. Now seriously considering getting more games and a PS3.
Where is the cheapest place to buy them?
What the difference between the two types? I'm looking for the one that can play all my old PS1 and PS2 games

The only model that can play PS2 games is the old 60 GB one, which was discontinued some time ago.
If you already have a PS2, I don't see why it's necessary. Sure it would be nice and all, but its not as though you can't still play your old games.0 -

I got mine from Play.com, and it's great! I also have Sony 'Continuous Play' which, should it break down, will provide a replacement that I understand would be another 60gb (if they still have any).0 -
Thanks guys. £119 doesn't seem bad either!
Please don't say the PS4 is on the way?0 -

If you're looking at the same one I am, that particular one is both used and faulty (it won't turn on).0 -

they have stopped that now (for new customers) as people were taking advantage of the system.0 -

So they have. Glad I got in in time!0 -
but just ensure that it is the backwards compatible 60gb, apparantly there are 2 versions.
The one you want is CECHC03 model.
I should know, I listed one on there last week!0 -

Keep in mind that ALL PS3s are PS1 compatible - the 60gb one only adds PS2 compatibility. These go for a serious premium, and are more prone to faults than the newer one. It's cheaper to have 2 devices, and I think more reliable too.0
