Right, I'll be good now lol!

Have a look on eBay like you said, for cravats and waistcoats.

Do you have a shopping outlet near where you are? You can get some cracking bargains at them, all because they are ;out of season, but who cares if this years colour isn't mud brown !!!!!! lol

I know ours have Ted Baker and Jeff Banks shops for example and they have suits from £100!

If you REALLY need to budget, have a look in the likes of BHS or Matalan for suits.

Have a look on eBay for a veil , a cake topper and the other bridesmaid dress you need.

    Hi sammie

just wanted to say congratulations and you sound like you are doing a grand job. I know what its like, we arranged our wedding in Gibraltar with only 9 weeks from the day we decided to the day we wed! Not everything went to plan but to be honest they were minor details (my hair wasnt right but I didnt have time to redo it myself and we couldnt hear the music for the lovely songs we had chosen) The important thing though was that we got married with family and a few friends who cared enough to spend the money getting there to share it with us and we had a great time, very relaxed and all our family and friends said they enjoyed it too.

    Good luck
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!
  • Hello all,

Hope all the plans are coming together nicely!

Its been awhile since I updated, wasnt sure if the wedding would even be going ahead because we hadnt heard back from my church (OH is divorced) and I am a catholic so they dont approve of divorce etc. To be honest, I am not a practising catholic though it is important to me to get married in my church.

Anyway, also in the meantime, OH was made redundant on 2nd Oct :(

He is now trying to set up as self employed and so any monies we had have gone to pay our bills etc, and wedding fund has decreased to 2k (as it stands today!!)

    Stress and Drama!

We have since received confirmation that we can marry and sent out the invitations a couple of weeks ago. :)

I bought two beautiful alfred angelo bridesmaid dresses awhile back-one in an 8 and one in 10. They are for my sisters who are usually an 8, they had yet to try them on as one is in australia until 17th December (wedding is on 23rd), and the other is in Ireland.
My sister in Ireland received her dress last week and it wont fit :( She tried it on months back and it was a little tight so she went on a fitness and healthy eating drive, but she has now advised me she is a size 12. :(
No-one in my family knows that my little sister is coming home for the wedding and is the other bridesmaid. But my older sis has now asked if she can just go buy another dress, as she cant see it as a problem, if its only her wearing it, no-one would know.
I've told her not to for the moment as the waistcoats match. But I am getting increasingly stressed. I have been looking on ebay for some chocolate coloured dresses (the alfred angelo are a lovely colour-called cafe). My OH has said he prefers the chocolate colour than the ones we have.
I just dont know if I have the time yet alone the money to get them.
Its only 6 weeks yesterday! GULP!

We have to pay for the venue-which we are hoping will be about £2100.00 (its dependant on the amount of guests £35 x 60)
    DJ £300.00
String quartet £200.00 (shellsuit we passed up on the lady with the keyboard, surprisingly enough-and managed to get the quartet down from 400 to 200)
Rings ?? -not sure how much as my friends brother is a jeweller and he is making them, she was going to pay , but has now decided they want to pay for our honeymoon as our present!!!?? (<---how lucky are we?!)-so we will pay for them ourselves.
£70.00 - cravat & ties hire from youngs
    £99.00 -my alterations
£70.00- room for photographer evening before wedding (she is travelling from england to ireland and doing it for free to build her portfolio, all for the price of her hotel room and flights! :)
We also need to make a donation to the church.
And finally (i hope!), book and pay for the ferry (approx £250)-but I have £12.50 tesco vouchers towards it so that equates to £50.00 (every little helps as they say!)

I'm not having favours as we dont have the budget.

Oh! I need a veil too-at my last dress fitting they said they would make it-1 tier,36 inches- £115.00!!!! So I rang and cancelled it the day after (as I was too embarassed to say no at the time)-I'm trying to find one cheaper but my dress is antique lace covered in bugle beads with rum coloured duchess satin underneath so white doesnt go and im not sure if ivory will? My dress is still with them until its finished so I'll just have to wait until I have it to try find a colour match!

    Not long now girls! :)
