Hiya,
Not sure where you are in Ireland, but if you're in Dublin both Ballyfermot and Dun Laoighaire college have photography classes so it may be worth asking if a final year student is interested in taking the photos for cost so that they can have them for their portfolio? If your not there, you may find other local colleges that have photography courses.
Do you mind me asking which hotel your having your reception at? We're getting married and were thinking about coming home to do it, but couldn't find anywhere as reasonable as you've found, so we thought we couldn't afford itSealed Pot Challenge - member 1109:j0 -
Hello fellow brides 2b-and grooms!
Well yesterday I took DD and I off for a girly day of window shopping. No luck with the baby flowergirl dresses-they had the perfect one in tk maxx but couldnt get one for DD-they were cream satin, with petticoats underneath-and little cardigans with pearl-cost just £14.99Such a pity! Anything else I have seen has been £35.00 +, so I'll just continue searching!
I got my engagement ring cleaned in Goldsmiths while I was in town and tried some wedding rings while I was there. I've now picked one that will sit with my engagement ring-and got my size so will tell best friend-so her brother can start making itAs there was a cancer research event on in the town-they were doing the jewellery cleaning for a donation, so I gave £3.00 and got a voucher for hot chocolate in pret- very MSE of me
I also picked up two pashminas on a stall-£1.00 each! I had seen on this site someone recommended ebay-but I got them even cheaper! So that will keep the chill off my lovely bridesmaids-just need to pick up to brooches to secure them.
My mum is trying to sort the cake. She is speaking to a lady she knows who bakes cakes-so god knows what we will end up with-but to be honest-I'm not fussed at this stage!
Also, my nan has an old beautiful morris minor so my mum is going to ask if we can use that. (thats considering it runs ok!Dont think its been started in years!! Fingers crossed on that!)
I tried on wedding shoes yesterday-some beautiful ones in Dune but they were £75, and I've not really budgeted for shoes at all-though maximum I could spend is £50.00. I suppose they wont really be seen under the dress anyway!
I also tried some make-up-had a trial with estee lauder-and came away looking like aunt polly! Soooo not me! But at least I know how I DONT want to look
I then went to Dior-and they were brilliant-I cheekily asked for a tester to see how I get on applying it myself-and although they dont usually give testers, she did give me a sample. (I did ask for the foundation at Estee Lauder, but she was quite snooty,as were Lancome!) I tried the Clarins fixer spray and it was fab so if my budget allows-I'll be buying the dior foundation and clarins spray. My make up stayed on and really fresh looking all day!!
I have a trial on Monday with Bobbi Brown for ideas and to show me how to apply everything and the lady at Chanel told me to call in on Monday.
Frannyann, my OH overheard me telling my mum about the photographer situation, and agreed it is a little expensive especially for 'mates rates' as they say. So I'll continue searching!
Hurricanewyn-Im from Carlow-and thats where the Hotel is-its called the Talbot Hotel-its a 4*star hotel-and the wedding package has received awards in marketing and got a big write up nationally for innovation and helping those who are getting married get value for their money. The staff there were fantastic and couldnt do enough for us, also OH stayed there for 4months on business and loves the foodThanks for the tip re the photographer-I'll mail them now!

Have you done invites yet?? Vistaprint is worth a look, suggested by the lovely girls on here. I signed up and then waited a few days, and the free offers came flooding in, now have just ordered, 20 day invites plus envelopes, 100 evening invites (too many but all free) a pen (daughter wanted it and it was also free LOL) and 25 magnets with our wedding date and venue on them (as little gifts for the kids and aged in laws who love that kind of thing) Total cost including VAT (thats added on after) and P&P £15!!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

Hi All,
Not in the best mood today-had my Bobbi brown 'complimentary trial' -only the silly moo that booked it-booked it for monday26th November-and had wrote down 'Bridal', so the lady that was there said she could do it-then after applying and talking through tips etc, mentioned that because it was bridal-its £30.00-redeemable against the products!
Im not the assertive type so just gulped and agreed and then went on to buy three of the twenty products she used (Foundation, concealer and eyeshadow -£75 !!!!!I know its my own fault but to be honest after having DD my confidence has taken a bit of a knock and I was too embarrassed to explain or question anything
I think from here on, I will be shopping online-the internet is my friend
I've just ordered my flowers-£118.00 altogether so at least they were a good price (I know I could have got them cheaper but I really like them and they are a great company-highly recommended)
MY OH is to ring to find out when he can collect the baptism certificate (I bet he hasnt done it today ->im rolling my eyes here!)
I found a flowergirl dress, the one currently on the BHS website named Poppy-aged 12/18months and have bid on it-not willing to spend more than £15.00 so here's hoping no-one else is watching/wanting it!)
I wont be buying the pretty shoes in Dune now because of the whole make-up scenario-so I was thinking of adding some sparkles to a cream satin pair I already have. Does anyone know where I can get some? Has anyone seen the table crystals? Could I try add the 4mm ones (flat back not pointed) or would they look rubbish??
My best friends hubby has said he will take our photos but I'm still going to keep searching as I'd really like some shots getting ready in the morning -and as much as I think he's a lovely fella-I'd kind of feel silly posing if you see what I mean?
My mum hasnt updated me yet re the car or cake. If all fails I'm just going to buy the tesco one for about £50.00-to be honest I can't see it being eaten as we are having 5 courses anyway!
Right, best get off and do some housework-totally no motivation today-hope everyone else is having a better day x
oh! frannyann-my OH works in Graphic Design so he has designed them and can print them either for cost or for free, but thanks for the tip re vistaprint. Maybe next time[strike]Loan 1 = £5912.91 - 26 payments left @ £227.33[/strike] £3413.91- 15 payments left

Suit hire, what kind of suit is it. If it's just a normal one try Asda and Tesco as they have some very good deals on suits at the mo and they are great quality.
I got some gorgeous pashminas from ebay fro £2.49 the link is in the trusted ebay sellers thread on the wedding's board, they are lovely quality!
You definitely have a great best mate!!
Good luck and just shout if you need anything!

Hello all,
Tried to post yesterday-had the whole thing wrote out and my internet died..
Feeling a bit deflated at the moment, probably didnt mention at the start of this thread but we are trying to get the wedding for £3.5k which I am now realising, is totally unrealistic. We really havent got any more funds to top it up, so hence why I am feeling a bit down.
So far our spends are:
£350 - Dress (needs to be paid on Sunday at the alterations, dress was 899 plus 99 alterations but have been paying it since march)
£120 - Flowers
£200 -DJ (this is an approx-my friend said it should be about that)
£15.00 -Shoes (i bought some shoe clips to jazz up a cream pair of sandals instead of buying new shoes)
£50.00 -This is the new budget for our cake-so tesco it will be. I want to add pearls to it-anyone any ideas how to do that?
£40.00 -Shoes for OH
£75.00 -Make up(still annoyed over this-silly moo that I am:o
£13.00 -DD's dress-won the one on ebay from bhs 'poppy' so thats a positive (p's thanks to whoever gave me the link to the BHs website:beer:
So if my maths are correct it leaves 2637 to pay for Venue/Food (approx 2200, depending on rsvps)OH's suit, cake topper,my veil, contribution to church/priest,car, music,2nd bridesmaid dress, photographer.
So we wont be having any favours. I also wont be having the photographer which I am really disapointed with as I know its the photos that last, I will use my best mate's hubby-and am very greatful that he is willing to do it-I just would have preferred for them both to be able to enjoy the day, have drinks and relax.
My nans car is not working, so that option is out the window.
I spoke to the local music college and the lecturer quoted £250 for her to play the flaming keyboard!? which 'sounds' like a violin, or if she was to bring someone who does play violin, it would be an additional £250!!
I really feel people take the p!ss, once they hear the word 'wedding'-as if you have an endless pot of money -anyone else found that??
Anyway, today I'm trying to get back on track and been on ebay, will also need to source OH's suit for approx £100.Has anyone bought cravats/waistcoats from ebay? If so , please recommend.
Rightyo, onwards and upwards!Hope everyone else is having a bit more luck

Sorry but...
I spoke to the local music college and the lecturer quoted £250 for her to play the flaming keyboard!? which 'sounds' like a violin
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
That's the funniest thing I've heard in a long time!! I'm laughing like Mutley here!!
£250 for someone to play an instrument that sounds like the instrument you actually want?
You may aswell bang a CD on of someone playing the violin rather than that!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0
