This might sound like a weird one to most people but I just had to ask because I feel so abnormal (deprived maybe).
I'm very menepausal I admit it. Have had hormone levels checked at the doc's so its definite. So why do I feel so GOOD.
    Where are my mood swings?
Where are my hot flushes (flashes)?
Where are the dreaded night sweats?
Where is the inevitable vaginal dryness?
Where is the lack of libido? (Its actually through the roof atm)
My periods just stopped (oh bliss) about 18 months ago, and I think I've had like 2 in this entire time.
I came out of the doc's armed with leaflets telling me what to expect and how it might affect me etc, And 'nothing', absolutely nothing......!!!!!!!
Don't get me wrong, I am most definitely NOT complaining.
But I seem to be the exact opposite of how its supposed to be.
I feel better than I ever have in my entire life. Wrinkles don't bother me.
I'm pretty happy with nearly every aspect of my life. My confidence is at an all time high.
My friends are all asking if I'm taking hormone replacement treatment (I can't because of the breast cancer risk in my family). I'm actually just high on life.
My doctor says 'Its unusual, but it can happen'
Thats fine but I don't know anybody else who's gone through it, or is going through in unscathed.
Anybody else relate to this, I'm surely not unique, (just in my own circle). ?
Help. I'm starting to think I'm an oddity.
Anyone gone through it with relative ease
That’s pretty much spot on how it is with my OH although she does get the hot flushes, these get much worse post-orgasm which is quite entertaining given the libido issues you mentioned

Fantasia - my mum's explanation of her own menopause was (paraphrased) - "Oh, I felt a bit hot one day, and then it went away." I'm just hoping I've inherited that :)

I am guessing that menopause is like many things in life - people only mention it when it goes wrong/is c**p. You probably can't find many posts online from women who sailed though it because it was so insignificant that it wouldn't occur to them to post about it.

That's exactly what happened with me (51)! And I was dreading it as my Mum had a horrendous time with flushes and "flooding" lasting for years.

I had all the same symptoms went doc's for blood test even though he thought I was too young (38) my mum was even younger,
well 3 months later I am bloody 3 months pregnant !!! still in total shock apparently it's quite common to get caught at the start of the change (which I didn't know )
    SO BEWARE
  • CONGRATULATIONS JOPSEY!

  • Congratulations Jopsey. I too was having missed periods and i did a pregnancy test, my other half was "oh it would be great" lol. But thankfully for me i am not as i think it is the pre menopausal symtoms. I already have 2sons aged 22 and 20 and i would rather become a nanny than a mum again in my circumstances. But like bitter and twisted said it was meant to be so congratulations again. :j

I hav heard this can happen for a few years after the start of your menopause too, I take NO chances, LOL. I'd have mine, not having any more!! Good luck with the new baby. Everything for a reason is my motto!!

Me too :rotfl:In fact I didn't even go to the doctors until I had to go for something else and was asked about my last period which at that point was about 2 years ago.

I had the odd light hot flush as in I felt hot (DH said I was like a radiator) but not enough to wake me up or keep me awake and only when the weather was hot anyway. To be honest I didn't even realise at first as I tend to get hot easily anyway. Periods just got lighter and less frequent until they eventually stopped.

Am now several years out the other side and feel brilliant! I had a friend years ago though who told me when it was 'my time' to ignore everything I read and just see if anything happened as she had a symptom free menopause as well. So it must be more common than you think.

I think I was relatively young as I wasn't expecting the menopause to start until my 50's. I was aged about 46 and am nearly 50 now. No worries on the osteoporisis front I hope as I've been taking calcium and magnesium since my early 40's as the magnesium stops me getting cramp!
I live in my own little world. But it's okay. They know me here.
  • I am nearly 54 and no sign at all of the menopause yet. Doc is now checking my hormone levels as she says it should all be over by now. No family history to guide me as Mum had a hysterectomy at 50 because of fibroids. Part of me would like it to be over but I have seen how some of my friends have suffered and I wouldnt want that.

If you have menopausal type symptoms of weight gain, brain fog, weird periods, disappearing libido, aches and pains, its worth getting your thyroid checked - the two things mimic each other.

  • :jI started early menopause at 45 I had just got into a new relationship and low and behold my sex drive took a nose dive, low moods and hot flushes.

At the time I didnt know that I was going through the menopause, I just couldnt understand why I was feeling low, It was only when one of my colleagues said to me "you dont seem to be your happy self anymore", this then confirmed that I was not only feeling low but i was showing it too, off to the docs, who sent me for blood tests, the results came back that I was now officially menopausal :eek::eek::eek:.

Before menopause sex had been great so I felt robbed :mad:. Anyway 5yrs later am officially an old woman lol!!! "only joking" My hot flushes are very rare, my sex life has took a turn for the better "YAY" :cheesy: After the first yr of starting menopause my moods got better, periods have ceased.

I was lucky that my bf was very understanding :A and he is now got a smile back on his face, :D"Thank God" lol!!!
