I have a tiscali account which works well, until I realised they were letting new customers have unlimited calls, line rental and broadband for £19.99 a month - I was paying £26.99 - When I tried to "upgrade" my package, they wouldn't let me because of their technical errors - they said. I live out in the back of nowhere where cable tv will never reacha nd sky want to charge me £43 a month for the package they will sell to others for £26 which includes TV (not that I'm bitter).
Well, I complained to Tiscali, saying it wasn't fair because it was their technical problem, not mine and so they've just added credits onto my bill to compensate for the next six months (and so far no tie in, either) so that I am getting the package at the price I wanted to pay.

Enjoy it while it lasts (IIRC, Talk Talk/Carphone Warehouse now own Tiscali).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
