Cost of Tiling

Options
I have been quoted £350 to tile my kitchen (including grout and adhesive) total area is 8m2 floor and 4m2 tiles. In total this works out about £30 pm2 is this about right as it sounds expensive to me!! This may be completely normal but as we are on a budget I thought I would check, anyone got any idea?

Think it depends where you live. The going rate here is 15 to 20 per sq mt but i have seen tilers on these boards quoting 30 as the going rate for normal tiles rising to a lot more for natural stone.

Ginga511 cost will vary depending on the job,
8m of flooring can vary due to the laying surface,is it sound, level, wood etc.
if it's a clean sound ready to lay surface layed on the square with few intricate cuts, it will be a lot less than a dodgy surface layed at 45% (diamond fashion) and lots of door and unit cuts. The same for the walls new walls, few sockets to cut in etc will cost a lot less than uneven wall with lot's of wall sockets and switches and intricate cuts around cupboards
you need to look at between £15 and £30 per metre.
This should include adhesive, grout and silicone sealant.
And the quality of the tiler is important, was he recommended and have you seen any of his work? it's ok to pay the top end price if the quality is excellent.

I would do it for that but i live in Lincolnshire(the poor N.East part) and wouldn't get any work if i priced too high. The only thing i can suggest is to ring round some tile shops and ask what they charge per sq mt fitted. They may also recommend some tilers who will give you some more prices.

That's confirmed what I thought that although he does do a very good job it is top end so I shall get another couple of quotes. Thank you both :-)

i live in the south east london area and just had bathroom walls tiled by a plummer he charged 18 pound a square mtre which is reasonable as some tilers wanted to charge 30 pound sq mtre did a good job so it pays to shop around
