well i have just emailed a photographer who i met at a fayre on sunday pushing my luck trying to get another £270 of her price! she already offering £100 off for quoting the fayre. I want to book her for pre wedding, up to first dance and a photobook plus a cd with all images which would normally cost £1270 I am asking her to do it for £900. Probably pushing my luck too much but hopefully she will say yes!

need a wee bit of help ladies (and some gents??) The photographer has come back with an offer which is £75 higher than i asked for. We really dont want to go above £900 as orignally we were not even having a professional photographer.
how can i word it without seeming too cheeky? we have had an offer from another photographer for our price for pretty much the same things but i like her work much better and her personality!

I need to reply asap to her.. please help :D

If I were you I'd tell her that you top budget is £900 and you have already been offered someone to do it for £900, but if she can match it, you would prefer to go with her.

She can only say No, so go for it! xx

if you dont mind me asking who is the photographer - would be good to see her photos etc to judge, but from what you have said and correct me if im wrong you would get a full days photography a cd of all images and a photobook for 975 - thats very good. - some of the photobooks cost the photographer hundreds before theyve even factored in the time it will take to design it - (thats why it would be good to see the website as would get an idea of the value of the book too.)

But, if a customer came to me and said they only had 900 then i would do it, but would expect a compromise - so this i think would be your best angle. So maybe suggest coming an hour later than you were thinking of having her start, or less images in the album, or a smaller album - but obviously this will depend on what was included in that price as to whether you can downsize. Do bear in mind that she has given you 370 off her asking price which is about a third - and thats all from profits because at the moment she still has the same costs as if someone paid full price.

    hope this helps

well i think her photos are lovely, and her cheaper album is the artemis - i use this supplier - they are not cheap - the album is one that is in the hundreds, so what i would say is at £975 what she is offering is FANTASTIC but everybody has a budget, but think carefully how she compares to the other photographer, because paying 900 for a photographer whom your less sure about or dont feel quite as comfortable with, or who doesnt use such quality albums - (or whatever your reasons for prefering this lady) will feel like you have spent lots more when you look back at them than if you spend 975 for the one you want where you get what you want and have a great day. just something to think about. If she says no will you still go with her anyway? how does the other person compare?, is there another area you can cut back on to justify the extra £75?

the other thing to be careful of is offending her - if you do ask for more money off she may begrudgingly do it - becuaise she doesnt want to turn down work - but would you want that to be the relationship you have?

The package i chose was the artemis but the larger amount of pages. i added the option of the digital cd and the pre wedding plus up to the first dance. i could drop either the pre wedding or up to the first dance but i feel i would really like it. The reason we cannot go above £900 is we are not paying for the photographer someone else is and we really cannot afford to pay the extra. My OH has just been made redundant and were having to cut back hugely on the costs.

The other photographer is a similar style and i would be more than happy to go with them it was just after i met Sheila on sunday that i decided to put them on the back burner as i liked her work a bit more!

she has offered to do the package but with the smaller book for £950 .
I will see how i get on.

    thanks for your comments :)
