Not sure, the banks aren't normally noted for low cost products (1% AMC on trackers seems common for retail bank products, 1.5% in some cases). But the funds above are from HSBC's global investment division. But yes, low charges are one thing but if they are underperforming other trackers this might outweigh any benefits. The HSBC Japan and Pacific index funds look to perform similarly to the L&G funds, from a quick look.

HSBC cut the fees on their trackers with effect from the start of the month. This was in response to Vanguard launching low cost trackers in the UK. However, the HSBC All-share has previously been available on Hargreaves Lansdown with a TER of just 0.27%. This is because they offered the institutional version without any additional 0.5% charge. Hopefully they will continue to offer the other low cost HSBC trackers without imposing any additional charge.
  • Thanks for the advice guys.

I was thinking then of opening the UK Index tracker from L&G.

I'm not sure how to use the link provided by Rollinghome in the 2nd reply to check its performance over the last few years relative to the actual index.

If you follow this link http://www.h-l.co.uk/funds/fund_performance/sedol/0103653
should take you to the chart. Then on the right select the indices or funds you want to add to the chart for comparison. So for all-share index select Index then scroll down about a third to select FTSE All share. Select Total return to include dividends if you choose a distribution fund.

Theres a few different tools on that site for comparisons. The "multi plot charting" feature allows you to compare different funds and indexes on he same graph.

Not sure if this will work but here is a comparison of L&G's UK index against its benchmark (the FTSE All Share). http://www.trustnet.com/Tools/PDFViewer.aspx?url=ChartingPDF.aspx%3Fcodes%3DNASX,FLGUKIA%26color%3D22519F,BD331F%26hide%3D%26span%3D%26reinvested%3Dwith%26bid%3DofferToBid%26retValue%3DreturnPercentage%26PortfolioName%3DSelect%20a%20Portfolio%26Currency%3DGBP
