Another AF evening for me yesterday.

Just got resist the temptation again tonight. I didn't realise how much I relied on drink to get over the week at work until now. The cravings were quite bad I must admit.

the Friday night feelign is an odd one...I still have to work on that I'm afraid...it's like a mini-trip you have to take to separate yourself from work...yes in the past I could be halfway through a bottle without even realising..just because...and that wasn't really my life...it was just habit and bad choices.....

I saw the debate re AA and whether it works....my take is try whatever it takes to get to the place you want to be as long as it hurts nobody.

AA helped me understand...I didn't like the religious stuff and sponsors etc....I just needed to understand myself and figure out the way out, facing my demons and sticking to a plan that would work.

AA helped but my family helped more - mostly without them even knowing. If and when I eve tell them they will be grown up and probably amazed about the difference they made.

I would hate to have had to do it all by myself.

I know if somethign happened to Mrs Bis (eg in the icy stuff) I would be VERY hard pushed to not reurn to bad habits.

You yourself are the person who has to make whatever you choose work and you also get to decide how far you want to go.

Our sole aim is really to be happy with our lives - whatever it takes.

    take care

    Bis

  • Just finished epic cleaning and bed making for up and coming visitors. My friend has got on the bus in London and her OH will be coming tomorrow with the two boys. They will be staying here all week, rather looking forward to it and my DS is beyond himself with excitement. Her OH is a bit of a drinker so could be an interesting week temptation wise.

JO - Rachel's Holiday is one of my favourite books.......

HB- About your dream...reminded me of the people over the years who have come up to me, generally when i'm !!!!ed and said...you are so much nicer when you are sober, or words to that effect. Of course at the time I was '!!!! off i can do what i want' mentality. But these little voices to come to remind you.

Another thing...apologies for the mental vomit....I read about people saying 'Oh well at least I don't drink as much as xyz' I started working in Pubs at 18 and carried on all thru my 20's . And not your gastro style pubs, the type of pubs where the hardened drinkers spend their lives. I suppose this was always my kind of excuse...'well at least I don't drink as much as so and so'....as the years go on and you find out x has lost his license, y has lost his house, and z has lost his life it tends to.......can't really think of the right word......

WB- your joke made me laugh!

    Marru- Congrats.

I do tend to feel guilty I don't make references to everyones posts but I do read them all!

    Have a good weekend all.

Renault and Ford are working on a new small car for women. They are combining the Renault Clio and the Ford Taurus, and calling it the "Clitaurus." It comes in pink and the average male thief won't be able to find it, even if someone tells him where it is.

Does anyone feel less balloon like after not drinking for even a short while?
I just don't seem to feel as bloated.

If I stop drinking for a couple of days I gain weight. I read it is because alcohol dehydrates your body.

I haven't had any more AF days yet.

Well done to everyone that has achieved some.:A

3 Men were waiting to go to heaven. St Peter was at the gate and said, "However good you were to your wife that is the vehicle you will get in heaven".
The first guy comes up to the gate and says, "I never, ever cheated on my wife and I love her". So St. Peter gives him a Rolls Royce.
The next man comes up and says, "I cheated on my wife a little but I stilll love her." He gets a mustang and drives off into heaven.
The next guy came up and said, "I cheated on my wife alot". He gets a scooter.
Next day the guy that got the scooter was riding along and he saw the guy who owned the Rolls Royce crying.
He asked, "Why are you crying you have such a nice car?!" and the man sobbed, "My wife just went by on roller skates".

Hi Bis, lovely to see you posting :)
My friend has got on the bus in London

I hope they've paid for their ticket cos all the inspectors are working in London today, my OH is not happy as he's working to give them back some hours! The buses they are using will obviously bring them back to their fav pub in Liverpool Street for when they finish duty
Rachel's Holiday is one of my favourite books.......

I was sent this along with 'Living Sober' from one of our dear friends on here, won't name names but not seen her for a while, please pop back and say hello xx

I think this is what's going on in my mouth, my gums are so sore, doc said yesterday that they look irritated and red, it's always worse after a night of drinking. I remember Caz (where are you as well???!) sent me a link with summat to do with alcohol and gums.

Just made cheese on toast  and contemplating going out to see if the car will start (might be no petrol ) to drive it down to the petrol station and get some shopping in Mr T's. Unfortunately it's still completely covered in snow  it's blummin' cold out there and so cosy in here. Only prob is I have nothing in the house to eat so have to shop. I have to take the kids with me as OH and DD1 are both at work and I don't relish standing at a freezing bus stop there and then back with armfuls of shopping with a 4 and 7 year old

Ok ok, I shall stop procrastinating and see if the car works, then slide it out of the road

Typed a mammoth post and forgot to say what I come on here for

I am positively panicking about being sober tonight, ridiculous huh  after so many sober days and knowing how much I enjoy being sober, I just can not get my head around the fact that I'll be okay without alcohol

Replace the thought of drinking with something else, maybe. Give yurself something to look forward to to take your mind off it, easing the panic....

  • Just been watching the weather forecast on our local news. We are due to get more snow tonight:mad:. I really want to go to work on Monday ( never thought I would say that:p) but the route I take to work is fairly rural and the roads are horrendous. The school is within walking distance if it is open on Monday ( fingers crossed) ... its just me thats the problem (as always) . DH has now gone to Supermarket to stock up just incase we can't get out again. Today is the first day he has been able to get his car out of our road since Tuesday:eek:

Hope you are having a good weekend and are not too incapacitated (sp?)
    by the snow.

    love
