I suspect this is the case  I'll get there...

I don't know if it's the mice or the time of year or the wine or the first 2 leading to the 3rd or something else entirely (that I can't identify)
But I'm drinking like a fish & really enjoying it

Normal bear service will be resumed as soon as possible

Glad to have you back Dear Honey Bear :A I have been through my: "I am drinking and really enjoying it phase" Thing is sweetheart this phase doesn't last and then you are back to realising that it doesn't make things any better. Sorry to go on, but I remember sometime ago you said that sometimes you say negative things to yourself. I am just hoping that you are not slipping back to feeling like that? Perhaps it is just a cumalation of one thing on top of another? You have not had an easy time lately, but I am sure things will pick up soon hunny.

I too felt very low at the end of last year, I am now feeling alot more positive but there is no magic wand it is just I think getting your head in a good place  Christmas helped and having my Ds home for a whole week :j and he did spoil his Mummy too :A This was a relief after my misdemeaner (sp). But then I had to realise that although I did not behave well, that, that doesn't make me a bad person. Graeme bless him said to look back but not stare too long.

So I am now trying to learn and to improve myself. I don't feel like having a drink, which of course is the key to success. I really do believe that drinking if you feel low only makes things ultimately worse.

So sorry for the waffle my Dear ;) What I think I was trying to convey is treat yourself kindly and don't let the alcohol mask things that you may need to address? We are all here to help, so if ever you need your paw holding then you know where to come.

Hugs Angel and lots of Budgie love :A

Oh and before I forget my score is 7af days (really 10 but you know what I mean ;))

    God Bless ((())) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Off to catch up with the rest of you now ;)
Cherish the ones you love and travel back on the road that brings you home :)

Budgielicious, thank you ever so much. I hadn't considered things from that angle. I have been feeling pretty positive, to be honest, however I don't know if that is just an alcohol mask, or me just getting into a better frame of mind

Obviously, it's hopefully a better frame of mind but shall bear your offer in mind ;)

PBT, I'm so sorry to hear your friend's news - that's awful :( Thank heavens she has friends liek you to turn to, & I hope the bus ride gets here there with time to spend with her Dad before the end

I was going to do something a little silly with the AF scores today but I'm sure you'll all forgive me if I wait til tomorrow/Saturday morning. Let's all take a moment to appreciate who & what we have in our lives instead :)

very big bearhugs to you all

Still Dear Lurky you are clocking up these af days so well done matey, hope you are ok? Big hugs (()) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

PBT I am so sorry to hear about your friend, what an awful time for her and it is so unfair at times like these that the lack of money, could end up costing so much. (I mean time with her father, if she could catch a plane then she would get there sooner and have more time with him). In life some people have so much, much more than they need and then we have others who have much less. Well done though for helping her at a time she needs her friends most. at least she can go to see her Father, knowing that her children and husband will have your support. I do hope she will be ok? On a lighter note well done on 7 af days :T you are doing really well sweetheart. Big hugs and take care. (()) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Miss P hugs to you and piglet, glad youR Dad has helped out and well done for making sure your friend got home safely :A you are such a sweetheart, big hugs (()) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thankyou to everyone re: my bad back. It is much better today, my mouth is still sore though with these mouth ulcers. Hey ho we plod on, do we not?

HoneyBear so glad to hear you are feeling more positive, I was worried last night when you were missing so to speak. I know from personal experience that sometimes we all need our own quiet time. But you have got Budgie wondering now, just how you will play with our scores  Remember I am on full marks with 3 in reserve ;) Big hugs (()) xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I see Bhb is missing again  Fedup, 69Chick,Cazza and we haven't seen Fluffy or Stroppy for ages  Winebox she flits in and then out again, MollyPolly where are you?

Eselt I hope you are ok? (I am thinking of you). (()) xxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • I ended up going
to the shop despite the horrible weather. I just had a desperation to get
    a drink which I couldn't resist. I should have resisted I know!

All you folks who are doing so well - did you ever feel like that and does it
get easier? I hope so - I'd have walked over hot coals to get to a shop last night!

Fay's tips are spot on, and the HALT thing is so true. Eat something, phone a friend, basically sort whatever is causing the "desperate to get a drink" feeling.

Remember that the urge to drink will pass. While it's there you might feel it will be disastrous if you don't get a drink - but think about it. If you were not able to drink for a reason e.g driving or medication you couldn't drink with, would you still feel quite as "desperate for a drink"?

Distractions work for me. Agonising about trying not to drink and playing mind games with myself does not work for me. If I get the urge - not often now - I try to knock it on the head immediately and not allow internal discussion of the "just one won't hurt" sort. So I immediately go and get a really nice soft drink (or choklit), and remind myself briefly that I don't drink.

DB, don't lose heart just because of one day, you're in the right frame of mind to learn from it and move on.

    Hello

I just wanted to come in and say I have been sober since I last posted...a few days before Christmas. I have been to four AA meetings. I don't know if I can quit alcohol completely, but so far so good and I know I WILL NEVER drink vodka or spirits again. I have had a couple of ports and lemonade, and (apart from the gout, lol) I am feeling good. I don't know if it is possible for me to 'control' alcohol....and be a 'normal drinker'. I think I probably am an all or nothing person...but, 2010 so far is better than I could ever have hoped. Sober at 11pm, and have been for over a week? I'm happy.

Happy New Year to you all.
