  • :hello:Morning guys . I'm back:j

Fay , I am still on 4 days. This is the worst month that I Have had since starting this thread ( and probably even before that !) . I have had a very stressful time ... but that is no excuse really. One of my most stressful times is the school run .... getting 9 yr old to school in the mornings is a "nightmare". I am in tears most mornings. Do I reach for a glass of wine ... NO>> I go to work and stay there for 9 hours and THEN drink:confused: . TBH I have been in s0d it mode. I didn't really want to drink last night but DH was so I joined him:confused:. It has now just become a really bad habit. Nothing bad has happened ( well apart from me thinking trimming my fringe was a good idea:eek:) , no major rows or anything. I think that is half the problem , nothing bad happens so you just carry on regardless.

I was watching " the One Show " where they were doing a report on drinking. One girl died aged 24 after drinking something like 2 litres of wine per day. A doctor, on the programme said that many people think they will wait until thay have symptoms of liver problems . He said that many don't have any until it is too late:eek: A bit late to have a LBM when you are dead.!!

Anyway, rambling on.... One of the things I hoped for when cutting down was to lose some weight ... didn't happen:rolleyes: BUT what didn't happen was WINE BLOAT. I look like I am about to give birth.
My DS asked " why are you sometimes really skinny and then sometimes .. NOT:o"

So , folks I now realise if I want life to improve tomorrow, if I want to be thinner tomorrow then I have got to stop drinking TODAY.

Today WILL be a test ... parents evening tonight. Wish me luck .

    Hi 40SM

Thanks for this I`m off to watch it on iplayer now.

Odd but when I was drinking I would switch programmes like this over....out of sight , out of mind etc......but now I can watch them & feel quite ashamed that I let the drink get hold of me like it has done over the years.

Got this really bad cold that is now on my chest (very painful).....I found myself with the whisky bottle in my hand last night as nothing would clear my lungs & I had taken my max dose of tablets......but I did not pour any into the glass!!! wow how good was that!! I thought of you guys & how I would feel having to admit that I failed.....so I`m still AF !! even through illness!

Well enough of my ramblings....its still dark here too so may try & grab a bit more rest.

    See you all later.

Haven't time to catch up, just wanted to wish luck to 40SM for today :)

You have been through a tough few weeks, we all seem to have

Good luck for parents evening

I watched the One Show last night and was also shocked at the age of these people that are becoming so ill. All the statistics when you read about liver disease, where they say it can take 10 years or so (depending on the person) for damage to become serious is nonsense now because alcohol is so cheap and so many more people are drinking it. They'll have to change it to 5 years or something I reckon  maybe less

    Anyway, gotta run x

That's why it can be tough to stop drinkiing. There may not be one bad episode, but the accumulated damage on your body is not good, nor are the feelings of low self worth that one can carry for years and years.
Alcohol masks many feelings of low self-esteem, lack of confidence, depression, etc so it also damages you as a it can act like a giant sticking plaster placed over some serious issues.
I had to take away the alcohol, then work on myself to boost my self-esteem, my honesty, my humility, my selflessness.
With these more balanced, it has taken away the desire to drink
