Hi, i ordered some things from a store catalogue, but when they arrived one of the items is not what i ordered [but it is definitely better than what i ordered]...the other items are correct, the invoice has all the correct items on it [the "wrong" item is not on the invoice]...do i have to tell the company it is wrong or can i just keep it??

If there's no record of the 'wrong' item on your receipt/delivery note, and you're happy with it as an alternative to the item you ordered, then I'd just keep it. It's not very honest, but there's no way for them to check, really.0

If it goes wrong down the line, (depending what it is), you will have no proof of purpose and therefore no redress to having it repaired/replaced.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
I had this happen for the first time yesterday - I got a pair of earrings instead of a bracelet so emailed the company to ask them to send me the bracelet but they've pretty much ignored my questions/request and refunded me.
So I suppose now I send back the earrings, even though they're not listed on the invoice - maybe I should them recorded delivery, but I'm not very happy to have to pay for the postage tbh. (The company ignored my queries about how to return the earrings....!)0 -
Maybe you can keep the earrings? I don't think earrings are accepted back for returns anyway so maybe they've refunded you and let you keep them?0

They can be returned if they have not been opened, i.e. seal still intact, and as the OP had not ordered earings, then no need to open.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
I would actually keep the earings, put them in a drawer, if the company contact you tell them you requested a returns label and none came, if the then send you a returns lable then just send them back. You shouldnt have to pay return postage on anything you have not ordered.
Just put them away and forget about them.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

I get what you're saying but there's no seal - just a card with the earrings attached. So I could, in theory, wear them and then send them back- not that I would - they're bloody horrendous :rolleyes:0 -

I guess - I am still waiting to hear from them how to return as I can't use the original invoice as they're not on there. I just don't want to get some poor adminy person into trouble by keeping them 'illegally', IYKWIM.0
