could someone tell me why the fso put a six month time limit on claims for missold ppi
having seen figurs that say some banks reject upto 99% of claims

What do you mean about six month time limit here?? Do you mean the time from when you are allowed to approach them for help if you get a rejection letter? If it is then, yes, there is a time limit and usually (unless you have extreme circumstances) its enough for most people.

Also lots of banks are rejecting complaints in the hope that you will not take it further and go to FOS but that does not mean that of that 99% rejected by the banks 99% are rejected by FOS. In fact its the other way round and most complaints for single premium PPI's are being upheld. The banks are just not treating customers fairly when rejecting and this is where we are hoping to see BIG fines for them.
