Hey all,

Now i have a DFS leather sofa and never had a problem from sale through to present and we've had ours seven years now. The problem is for the in-laws.

They bought a leather 3 seater and 1 chair approx 3 years ago. As part of the sale they paid £143 for a 5 year warranty. On the front of the receipt it details the furniture purchase and in a box 5 year warranty - £143. This was included in the final price at the bottom of the receipt.

On the back of the receipt it details the conditions of the 5 year warranty (and specifically mentions "5 year").

Their furniture now has a mark on each piece, it looks like the leather has just fallen away and you can see the sponge/fabric underneath, sizes are about 5" x 5", so definately noticeable and unsightly. Nothing has been spilled and the only thing they wash it with is soap and water as directed by DFS.

So they ring the 5 year warranty claim number and are told that the warrantyis only for 2 years and therefore are not covered. They advise the in-laws to read the t&c at the back of their receipt, they state they couldn't read the small print as it's too small!!!! Chap on the phone said he will send someone out anyway although they may be charged!!

In the meantime i have read the t&c and it all refers to is 5 years and no mention at all of 2 years and cetainly nothing that i can see that would get DFS of not repairing.

Fast forward, sofa repair guy comes out, does the repair and as a "goodwill gesture" does the repairs for nothing (gee thanks!)

So, what if this happens again? Do they have a 5 year or 2 year warranty? Anyone else heard of anything like this before?!

    see guarentee

They are referring to their own warranty.

It is as though they want to ignore the 5 year warranty.

OK, 2 year there, why does it say 5 year in their receipt? To me that reads they automatically receive 2 years, but they have made a payment for the 5 year..........or am i missing something?!
