Talk talkcancellation fee

i first signed with talktalk in 2006 - 8 months contract... still have paperwork.... then i think after the 12 months, someone from talktalk called and asked if i would like 3 months half price for another 12 months... yes okay.. 12 months went.... 4 months after that... left and went to BT. talktalk sent me a bill for £70.00...
WHAT FOR... has anyone had this too ? i dont think i have to pay but i am thinking when i had the 3 months at half price... was for 18 months and she said 12. which if 18... short of ending my contract by about 2 months.... how do i prove it was 12 months? or anything, got one paperwork of the contract.... could of ust put it on for all they knew or me...... SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY ? thank you

Give them a call. Dispute the termination fee. State you are not in an 18 month contract. Tell them that if they insist that the termination fee is payable they will need to produce evidence of the contract, such as a signed document or a telesales validation recording.

BTW, in any event, they can't charge you a termination fee that would be more than the money you'd pay them if you saw out the contract!
  • Cheers for that.... I did send them another message, because after the contract, soemone called and said do I want a further (sure they said 12 months) and talktalk wodul charge me half price for 3 months.... so yes... but after that it had finished before I cancelled... So I have said that it was 12 months, Not the same contract as before and she never stated any cancellation fee, never rec'd any paperwork of the new agreement, not signed or anything, so I have asked for them to provide me with any paperwork that I have have signed...... If not to cancell..... fingers crossed..... everyone is trying get your money (not that I have any!) all greedy....... ! thanks for your advise, will put that to them if no joy. Claire
