PPI first timer

Hi all, I wonder if you can help.
I have read Martin's information on reclaiming PPI. And I have sent off the request for the original agreement for my loan. This will take 40 days.
The question is this, can I proceed straight onto the next stage for reclaiming the PPI on cards without the original agreement? I don't ever recall discussing PPI with any card companies but have seen that Egg, Abbey and Barclay have all added a 'repayment protection' on the statements.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi all, I wonder if you can help.
Hello and welcome.

Good one, hope you receive the info before the 40 days.
I will say though that sometimes the agreement is not supplied with the SAR request, as mostly this has to be done separately, to request for the agreement only that only takes 12 days, with a cost of £1 postal order or cheque payment.

Yes that will be fine, although if you can try to request for this agreement as well, in case they do not resolve in your favour, where in general you would have the option if eligible to take your complain to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) for them to investigate.
They may require these agreemenr details.
Any help would be much appreciated.

You will find the link useful with a checklist of mis selling reasons, templates etc.
You do not have to use the templates, if you don't want to but as a guide with your own words and any reasons that may occur to you.
You do not need to write the amounts though, so not to worry about that, and they have 8 weeks in full to respond.
Keep at them until they respond in your favour, or until they issue you with the final decision which should enclose details of the FOS.
Best to post by recorded delivery, for your proof of posting, good luck and please keep us posted.;)

Thank you Di
I have found a template to request the original agreement but it states 40 days. I suppose this must be for the SAR. I will change the days. Is it still ok to keep the folowing on the letter.. or am I looking at the wrong letter.
..I look forward to your response within 12 days, " as is obliged under the Data Protection Act 1998. If not I shall seek remedy from the Information Commissioner. " ?

Hi Cali
Your welcome.;)
Just to rectify on this
For the agreement alone its that of 12 days with a £1 cost.
For the SAR which this is that of £10, they have 40 days to comply.
So you know as well for the future, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Thanks again Di. Just to re-check,
Changing the 40 days on the template, is it ok to end the letter " I look forward to your response within 12 days, " as is obliged under the Data Protection Act 1998. If not I shall seek remedy from the Information Commissioner. " ?0 -

Thank you again DI. I really, really appreciate all your help.
Sorry for more questions and for being Dim,the letter that I am going to send out tomorrow, I have asked for the copies of the original agreements for the credit cards like you mentioned above, as well as the asking them to repay back the charges in the same letter. Is this okay? Or am I shooting myself in the foot?

Normally there are 2 different departments dealing with PPI and bank charges so I would include the bank charges part in a separate letter.0 -
