faulty car cd player...

im just wondering where i stand with this situation;

i gave my son some money to buy himself a cd player after passing his test and buying his first car saturday - he bought one at halfords for £60 and paid £20 to have them fit it for him...

now the cd player is playing up and is jumping over cds and the sound keeps going up and down

im just wondering before i go tomorrow to get my money back what are my rights? can i demand a refund or do i have to have a repair?

thanks

    no its not the cds as they are playing ok on his inside cd player....i know its not the dearest and best you can get but as its his first car he took the advice not to go over the top and buy the dearest in everything for his first car...

    halfords have a 28day money back offer ;

    We hope that you will be happy with your Halfords purchase. However if you need to return any item we will happily refund or exchange it, provided it is within 28 days of delivery, in its original packaging and with proof of purchase.

    would i be able to use this to get a refund even though they installed the item for him?

    thanks

    You cant demand a refund no

    Are you sure it isnt the CD's? have you tried a disc cleaner.

    Its a cheap CD player so its not necessary going to be amazing. You also need to consider whether the speakers are any good.

    Sorry but I think that's utter rubbish. What's your authority for saying this? The CD player was only bought four days ago. Yes you could demand a refund as the CD player does not appear to be working correctly and has not worked since you bought it. You might prefer to see if Halfords can sort the problem as they fitted it but you certainly have the right to ask for a refund as the item is not working properly.

    Whilst £60 is not top whack for an in-car CD player, there are many which are a good deal cheaper than that. The comment about the speakers is irrelevant.
