Help Please

I have a CD with documents on it that I copied and can't access.

I can access the files they are in and when I click on the documents all I get is 'File Path or name invalid. try open dialogue box'

I have tried everything and looked in properties but can't open them any suggestions or am I not able to do anything with them.

They were set up in Microsoft Office 98 and I'm on Windows Xp.

Any help will be very much appreciated.
