Keeping my fingers crossed for you, it is so difficult at times but worth it in the end xxx"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0

have breastfed all three of mine last one about 24 years ago - but feeding hasnt changed much in all that time!! I never used a bottle unless I really had to....babies find it much less work than breastfeeding! when they were teething i usually rubbed dentinox on their gums immediately before the feeding. calpol about twenty minutes before feed if they were really in pain!!! oh and when teeth come in - it bloody well hurts as the little bu99ers bite!!! but babies aint stupid and if you remove breast as soon as they bite - your little finger gently inserted in mouth and your other hand whipping nipple out quick!!!! they soon get message. i fed DD for nine months DS1 didnt give it up until nearly three!!! and DS2 for six months ( I became dangerously underweight so had to bottle feed him) which i regret as he is dairy intolerant! persevere hun, its so rewarding - and cheap!0

I can recommend amber teething necklaces - DS stopped drooling immediately once he started to wear one. He stopped wearing it about 6 months ago, but asked for it again about 2 months ago - just as our dentist said he was getting some molars through...
They're about £10 or so on ebay.The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
Thanks!
I have never heard of amber teething necklaces. Will have a look at google to see what they are0 -

ooh never heard of these before-will have to keep them in mind when I (eventually) get round to having another baby, although I did read that some older children use them when their adult teeth start coming through so might be an idea to get one for my wee one now.
Thanks for that x"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -
Thanks. It just seems too much of a coincidence that she is having all the other signs of teething (lots of drooling, red cheeks etc) as well as the pains when feeding. Logically it has to be teething that is causing problems feeding. She has had plenty of growth spurts before, so I know that it isn't that. She had one a couple of weeks ago, thankfully before her teething problems.
Good to know that breastmilk helps to relieve pain though.
Yeah sorry, didn't mean she wasn't teething, just meant that when they are teething every little thing gets on top of them so their tempers frey very quickly- as you well know by the sounds of your poor little bubs! So if she was a tiny bit hungry that normally wouldn't bother her, it is now a big deal iyswim! I know that things that wouldn't frustrate my DD get her very upset when she is teething (she is getting 4 molars atm, poor little sausage.)
Another thing of interest is that whilst teething their stomaches become very acidic and so the sucking action may be giving her tummy trouble- this doesn't answer why she will take a bottle though! Maybe because the flow is different??? My DD goes off her food for a few days but will take her milk though.
I use the nelsons teetha granules, they are chamomilla, and work really well for DD. I tried the ashton and parsons, and although the same active ingredient (chamomilla aka tincture of matriarcha- or something like that lol!) They weren't nearly so effective.
Hope whatever you decide, she calms down soon, it is so distressing to see them in pain isn't it, especially when they give you a smile, and your heart cold just melt for them being so brave! x0 -
Oooh! Just another thought, ignore me if I'm going on
DD at 4 months suddenly got very distracted during feeds, pulling off and then screaming to be put back on, as if I had taken her off! I just put it down to their heightened awareness of the sights and sounds around her, making her nosy and distractable, maybe if there is stuff going on in the day time, she is picking up on this? Like I say, just a complete guess, but I really do hope you get sorted soon. Glad she fed well this eve. It's so satisfying to see them with a full tum.0 -

There is often a 'distractable period' around this months, and my LO is quite affected by it! If anyone laughs, walks past, if there is a loud noise or if I sneeze, he gets distracted and pulls off, then realises he is hungry! It only takes his Dad walking past to get his attention! For some reason, humming to him and holding his hand helps to keep his focus. It is getting harder to feed in public though, too much going on!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
Hi
Fed well again this morning so fingers crossed! Oh yes, she does get distracted very easily leaving me very exposed! She loves to pull herself off and stare at me with a big smile as if to say Look at me and what I can do! I try my hardest not to laugh but she just looks sooooo cute :-)0
