Please help, advice needed!

I just got home from the school run this afternoon and the phone was ringing.... I answered it and it was a recorded message stating that I was being offered a great rate for my mastercard or visa - possibly as low as 6.9% on the existing balance and to speak to a member of the customer service team press 6 (it had not stated what company and I did not think about that till after I was off the phone) so I did the really stupid thing and pushed 6, as soon as I did I got a messange "THE OTHER PERSON HAS CLEARED" that comes up..

I'm now really worried that something bad is going to happen, like a stupidly massive bill due to the fact that I may have given them access to my line or something.

Can anyone advise PLEASE.

Certainly sounds like as a scam.
Fortunately, you haven't parted with your details. If they call back, just hang up ;)
People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.
  • I just had one of these calls as well, I pressed 6 then put the phone next to the radio. Don't know if anyone came on the line, but there wasn't anyone there 10 mins later:rotfl:

also you haven't done anything to incur any cost.

I hope the music was good :rotfl:

I would worry too much to be honest, I called Ryanair today, pressed 4 to speak to operator and same happened to me, just the line dropping I guess
  • Thank you so much for your input :-)
  • Just call your telephone company and explain and they will tell you if anything has beenc harged and maybe get police involved if it is a scam
