grants for double glazing

I've heard that there may be grants available to help homeowners to buy double glazing for their homes. I dont receive benefits other than child tax allowance, but I still cant afford to double glaze my home. Someone told me that there may be a grant available soon. Does anyone know anything about this. Thankyou.

  • Julie I am not sure whether there are any grants you can get for double glazing, but you could check at your local CAB. There is the Warm Front Grant for people on qualifying benefits which would allow you to have loft insulation and wall cavity.

Yes there is, I have just had my house fully double glazed and the front and back door as well. I got it done with two grants from my local council, and it was through "Anchor Staying Put", who did all the paperwork/employed the double glazing firm/and paid the bill through grants. And no, I'm not a pensioner! To get this done you needed to be on some benefits, but not just benefits as the council have decided that it was not fair that only people on benefits got it, so if you have a low household income it's still worth trying.

It's something to do with making your home more "energy efficient", and if I can find my paperwork I could tell you more

    Google "Anchor Staying Put"

    Google "Anchor Staying Put"
As a Technical Officer for the Staying Put Agency, my main roles are to assist in the upgrading or adapting of customers' properties to accommodate their needs and enable them to stay in their own homes. This is usually a home which they have lived in for a great number of years. The work we carry out can range from replacement windows and doors to an extension of their property and depends upon their needs. The majority of Anchor Staying Put's customers are elderly or disabled and so every aspect of the work is life changing for them and helps to makes their lives easier.
