Best Student Insurance For High Value Contents??

Hi Money Savers,
My first post so be gentle please.
I'm a first year photography student starting in South Wales this months. Obviously because of the nature of my course I will have numerous high value items in my halls of residence (at least four over items over £500 and two at or around £1000). Totalling around £4000-£5000. I will need cover allowing me to take all these items out of my room and remain fully insured. I'm encountering insurers not liking more than £2000-£3000 leaving my room at a time and not offering more than £500 for individual items. Can anybody point me in the direction of a suitable insurer?
Thanks in advance!

Your parents own Home Contents Policy will probably cover your contents at University Halls of Residence for upto around £5000, they might need to extend their policy if you want cover away from the halls.
The simple answer is for them to ring their Insurers to find out if they are covered, for how much and any conditions0 -
Also ask Endsleigh as they do student specific insurance that covers Halls and you can change the things you need on it to cover more expensive equipment. Might be worth ringing them rather than grabbing an online quote, as they may be able to sort it by phone and not by 'net.** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

You may be wise to find yourself a specific photographers policy - cover for the items plus some semi pro level of liability cover. As a photography student then taking photos when out and about will essentially be your profession, and you will no doubt be trying to pick up some work further down the line, so having the liability is a good idea.
I know many people who say oh why would i need the liability cover, i am only taking photos, but: your flash causes someone to have an epileptic fit, someone trips over a cable for an off camera flash, you climb onto something to take a shot and break it.... the list goes on... people litigate.
The only problem is these policies are not that cheap, but then again it won't be cheap adding these items to an Endsleigh student policy either.
Endsleigh and your parents insurance are the other two good options and should also be explored as suggested above.0
