Double Glazing - Bay Window Quote
Pinball_Wizard
Hi,
I have a bay window in a 1920's style house - Chelmsford in Essex. The bay consists of 4x separate windows set in concrete so it isn't actually one bay frame.
Have had 2 quotes covering the supply and full installation which will take 1 day: £1600 & £1800.
Do these sound reasonable?
Many thanks,
PW.

depends on what you are getting!
its very expensive for fixed lights made in china without any badges,
its very cheap for energy efficient, secured by design, insurance backed, wood foiled, windows with dummy sashes and lead lights.....
check some of my other posts for key items to consider. I am in witham so I can suggest local people if you pm me
sashmanBuying quality goods which last, should be an investment that saves money. :T
Buying cheap products which fail, wastes money and costs twice as much in the long run. :mad:0 -
We're in Notts, so probably cheaper than you. We have a 1930s semi with bay. Were quoted £1700 for 3 windows. The bay was fitted with dummies at the front. splitting it in to the original 4 panes and 4 tops - but no openers, we then put our openers on the side of the box bay. We had so many quotes that were just ridiculous.
As well as the bay, we had two top windows doing, one split in to three top three bottom, with 2 fans and 2 big openers, and the other window split into 2 top - 2 bottom with one fan and one large opener.
Our bay needed the toughened glass, as it was quite low and extra reinforcing on the edges.
We had about 5 quotes in the end, and went for a local company with a shop which we knew had been around a bit hopt that helps0 -
I've paid 1700 for a bay window consisting of 3 very large and tall windows so sounds pretty fair to me. But shop around. With some companies you can get deals if you bounce them off each other for example "this company offered to do so and so can you better this?" Try it? you never know xRegret the things you havent done not the things you have
