Wife accused of scatching a car
My wife has been accused of scratching someone else’s car in the car park at work and then driving off. Is it really possible to scratch someone’s car without being aware of it?
The whole thing sounds a bit fishy to me at the moment, because the woman says she has a witness (someone who was looking out of the window from a distance), and then said she had another witness (who my wife happens to know and says he saw nothing). Seems strange, as there was someone else guiding my wife out of a tight spot, and was unaware of any damage being done. She also says there are three scratches – one below, one in the middle and one above. I fail to see how my wife’s car could have caused this damage.
The other thing that seems dodgy to me is that at first the lady said that there was red paint from our car on her car, but when my wife went to inspect it there was no evidence of this. The lady said that my wife must have got out of the car and brushed away the evidence (blatantly not true).
Apparently this woman is now talking about the small claims court. We haven’t noticed any scatches on our car (we will check carefully when I get home from work), but is it really possible to scratch someone else’s car and be unaware that you have done it? I just get the feeling she may be a bit of a chancer.

Yes, isn't your wife proof of that.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
So how was the "damage " brought to someones attention?
Do you have the details of your witness?
Why was there a need for someone else to back her out?0 -
My mum had a similar experience - someone accused her of scratching his car in a car park - when she got out to look at it, she noticed that the scratch that she'd supposedly just made had rust in it! When she pointed this out to him, he went strangely quiet, got back into his car and drove off! So it can happen. Does your wife know who the first 'witness' is? All sounds a bit wobbly & rather unlikely though, especially if she wasn't aware of doing any damage and the other person guiding her out wasn't (would they be prepared to act as a 'witness' if needed?) - also if there's no damage on her car.0

Exactly how can someone see red paint then claim it has been brushed away.i would like to see this in writing.0

Tell them to take a hike - they are trying it on big time.0

This happened to me so I sympathise. The guy had locked his very small kids in the car whilst he went into a supermarket. He said I had scratched his car, there seemed to be so much muck on his complete wreck of a car and wanted to blame it on me. I dont see how she can take it to the small claims court, is there CCTV in the car park ?0

and after the non event has passed and there is no claim made, make sure you put thier phone number on the walls of every seedy toilet you can imagine offering "personal services"...work permit granted!0

Pure chancer, just ignore them, they would be laughed out of court.0

Given that your wife has appeats to have a witness who can back up your wife's claim that she did not hit or damage any other car whilst as claimed, any court case against her would seem doomed to fail."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
