I made a purchase of a washing machine and a fridge freezer, through our business, to a customers house from ARGOS

They flatly refuse to send the VAT receipt to me, even though I made the payment, because the delivery address is the customers address, not mine (well it would be seeing as that is where the goods were delivered to)

Where do I stand - I have sent several emails and been on the phone for hours to them, but they just keep quoting 'the data protection act'

ALSO their Customer Services are so rude it is untrue....

  • Seek advice from Customs and Excise?

Small claims court to reclaim VAT as they have not accounted for it? [long shot]

How did you order the item originally? Did you go into store or did you purchase online/over the phone? Was the delivery in your name or the customer's name?

It was online - it wont have been in the customers name, but it was their delivery address - Argos are saying that they are the billing address too, but they are not as far as I remember - I paid for it with my Business Account so would have put either the business or me as the Billing address.

Why not ask the customer to request one for you? It comes to their address and they give it to you. Simple.

Unless you charged them more than YOU paid! ;)

Not sure about online, but in store you can specify Delivery Address AND Customer Address (so if you live on 1 High Street but it's being delivered to 38 Low Street then it can be set).

Sorry can't be much more help on this one

Of course I charged more than I paid - I am running a business, not a charity

Its not as simple as asking the customer - it is a student house (which is currently empty) and the owners live 200 miles away - I dont have access to the house now that the job is complete and even if I did, it is 15 miles from where I live.
