problems with British gas.

Options
Hello all,

Just after some advice if possible.
We were paying BG £500 per quarter for our electricity, they came and changed our meter and said they has underestimated us, they then presented us with a bill for £2500!
We have been paying this off at £220 per month which is more than we can afford, they are now asking for the whole amount and have threatened to cut us off.
We did do a 7 days meter read, and it worked out at approx £35 per week, which equates to approx £500 per quarter so we cnot work out where the £2500 came from?
We have a 2 yr old, and a new baby due in November so being cut off would obviously be a major problem!
I have asked my husband if maybe the new meter installed is meausuring cubic feet instead of meters (or the other way round ) but we don't know we would know this.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
A.

Electrity meters read units of electricity.
One unit = One Kilowatt Hour.

Apprx how many units a week are you using?

Gas meters read either in 100's cubit Feet, or Cubic Metres and are clearly marked.

Are you an all electric house?
That gum you like is coming back in style.
