You get a free photo card replacement. Do you have the new style passport as they'll use that photo.
Your OH cannot drive when his expires until he gets a replacement. If caught he risks having his car taken from him, £150 to get it back £60 and three points.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you have an old style licence you can change it for a card for free if you change address - £20 if you just want to do it
The card has to be renewed every 10 years and I believe there is a fee of £20 - not 100% sure of this though
Maybe they have sent a reminder to your old address?0 -
Thanks guys no reminders as yet i pick up the mail from old address.
Yikes to no driving when expires as it does say on back of photocard bit vaild to 2045 but 09 on the front it take it this means nothing.Baby boy 8/05/090 -
I take it he's 70 (34 now) in 2045 when the entitlements run out.
The current licence expires in 2009.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Driving before your licence is returned
You can drive before you get your licence as long as you:- have held a Great Britain or Northern Ireland licence issued since 1 January 1976 or another exchangeable licence
- are not disqualified from driving
- haven't been refused a licence for medical reasons or for failing to comply with medical enquiries
- wouldn't be refused a licence for medical reasons - if in doubt, check with your doctor
- keep to any special conditions that apply to your licence

Shame on the DVLA; they promised that remimders would be sent to everyone in plenty of time. Thanks guys no reminders as yet i pick up the mail from old address.
As scotsman4th said above, you can still drive while your licence is away at DVLA for processing.Yikes to no driving when expires as it does say on back of photocard bit vaild to 2045 but 09 on the front it take it this means nothing.
As for the dates, you need to understand the difference between entitlement and the photocard. His entitlement is valid until 2045, which means that his car qualification will only be reviewed at age 70 on medical grounds. The photograph needs renewing this year, but he can still drive while that process takes place.0 -
