Dell 1525 laptop - disc tray fault

Hello, hopefully one of you knowledgable people can help me, as I'm hopeless at technical stuff!
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop, about 6 months old, and yesterday I found that I was unable to eject the CD/DVD tray, despite it having no disc in it.
The green light was showing constantly, and pressing the touch sensitive button on the tray had no effect. I tried right-clicking on the drive and selecting eject, but to no avail.
Eventually I used a paperclip in the small hole on the tray and was able to open it, (I discovered this trick on a support forum). Upon inserting a CD and closing the tray, it didn't recognise that there was a disc in the tray, and again refused to re-open without the paperclip treatment!
Has anyone encountered this before, or could offer any advice?
Thanks in advance!

A friend had a very similar problem. They sent out a new drive and got him to swap it out. at home. Give them a call and they should be able to resolve it.doc_holloway wrote: »I'd rather fix it myself (if possible) than have to send it away for weeks, assuming the problem is just a minor one.
Could it be an issue with the drivers? I've heard that updating them has helped in similar situations....Space for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though0
