Do you always pack more than you need? Have you got it done to a fine art do you know what you need?
How do you pack?
Do you roll your clothes or fold them too?

I roll or lay out, put things on top and wrap back over the top. Stops you getting creases horizontally along trousers and pads out smaller items in the case.
I always pack too much no matter how much I plan. I go as far as planning what I will wear each day but at the last minute I always cave in, and throw in some extra pants, socks and stuff.0 -
Hello!
I used to pack way too much, almost as if I was going to the north pole for months... but last December I went to India for two weeks and did it on one bag- yeap, one!! I planned carefully what I would need that coudln't easily get there (ie tampons, and I forgot those!, wet wipes, etc...) andleft behind whatever I knew I could get the very easily and cheaply (ie toiletries). It was great to have only one bag, that included my yoga mat and some books, folded in four... my partner took his army surplus bag and that is like a bottomless pit, everything that I couldn't fit, went into his bag. So it was a bag each plus a rucksack...I like to pack cosmetics miniatures /samples, to save space. IT did help that the bag I got has a great design with lot of internal compartments, fantastic to keep stuff tidy and easy to find
I do a combination of folding and rolling, to maximise space..0 -
I usually:
- roll clothes (less creases)
- take minimum amount of stuff
- I check holiday itinary, we usually do touring holidays, and work out exactly what we'll need, (trip advisor is good for this)
- I already have quite a few travel clothes, which you can rinse through and dry over night, and don't need ironing
- take small tube travel wash
- take nearly used bottles of toiletries (and don't bring them back)
- take a photocopy of important documents, travel ins etc
- And you can buy almost anything anywhere nowadays!!

I make a complete list weeks before I go. I only take clothes that will go with other things, so I can get multiple outfits out of each item. I pack travel wash so I only need about three pairs of undies and take items which can be rinsed through and dried on a hanger and don't need to be ironed I only pack absolutely ESSENTIAL toiletries which I know I can't obtain easily when away.
I once went travelling round the Greek Islands for a month with a bag which was really not that big, not that much larger than hand-luggage really.0 -
Usually leave it to the night before, and take a couple more outfits than I will need, as I'm always deciding I don't like things anymore, even if they were my fave outfit the week before!!0

It's like a military operation for me. I pack exactly what we're going to need, and I mean "exactly". It's not just space/weight, I hate waste. I actually mark my bottles of shampoo, shower gel, etc., to see exactly how much they are used each time, and then stop using them at exactly the right time when there's just enough left for the duratiion of the holiday. With sprays, etc., I date them when I start and then when they're finished, so I know how long they last and again, stop using them when the time's right and there's just enough left over. I do the same with things like cofee, sugar, etc when self catering - I even count tea-bags and take exactly the right amount. For clothes, I pack exactly what we're going to need - each day planned in advance, working out what can be worn more than once before washing etc depending on what activities we'll be doing. I've been doing it for over 20 years and have only be badly caught out once when our plane was grounded and we had to stay for an extra night in a hotel - luckily the hotel room had the basic toiletries and it was a sun holiday so we could spend the day wearing next to nothing sat by the pool, but it was quite worrying at the time.0

I have packing down to a fine art now. Everything I take can be worn with other items e.g. skirts and tops that can be mixed and matched. Anything that the creases won't drop out of once hung up for a few hours doesn't go in the case and I take no more than three pairs of shoes.4.30: conduct pigeon orchestra...0
