BT engineer charge

I have only been with BT for 3 weeks (moved from Talktalk) and had to call the engineer out as I was getting crackling on the line and 3 beeps every few seconds whilst on a call although I had no 1571 messages. The Openreach guy came and changed a socket back to a main socket that they had changed a while ago when they came for Talktalk. He said there was no fault after some time and left. I am still having the problems. A week later I had an email saying my bill was ready which I looked at and there is a £125 engineer charge on it. I haven't rung them yet as I was hoping for some suggestions or experience in this matter please.

Put the bill into dispute immediately on the basis that unnecessary chargeable work was carried out and the fault was not fixed.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Have you proved that the fault is not on your wiring or equipment?
If it is, then you will be subject to a charge for calling out the engineer.0 -
hello, i think that 125 may be the cost of transferring from an llu provider back to bt !!0

Thanks everyone who replied. I have spoken to billing and have managed to get the charge refunded.0

Not so fast! The fault has not been fixed, so no payment is due.Have you proved that the fault is not on your wiring or equipment?
