Ive always sworn by my Henry, that is until I tried my mums Miele....OMG Heaven, and a joy to use...believe it or not. They are apparently the top make...and the quality is top.
We have had loads of problems over the last few yrs with hoovers and spend hundreds on them trying all kinds Pet Specfic, upright, cylinder
We bought a miele (http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/286451/MIELE-S5210-S5211?cm_sp=FeatureEnd-_-Cylinder_Cleaners-_-position) the other day and this is by far the best one we have had!0 -
I also recommend the Henry, i am really really pleased with mine...0

Well Im fed up with my Henry. I really wish he would die!
Its heavy, cumbersome, and smelly even though i have bought a new charcoal filter.
Theres no way of knowing how full the bag is without lifting the whole motor and lid contraption off.I just get the feeling its lost suction, must only be about 4 years old tho'. I dont think the carpets are getting a good clean. i have 2 long haired cats and a dog so a good vacuum cleaner is vital.
This darned Pneumatic seems indestructible and I feel so guilty for considering spending alot of money on anew cleaner. I am seriously tempted by a Dyson 25 Animal. I can get one for £218 *gulps* (good price for the model though).Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
Having arthritis in my hands i find the Dyson too heavy to manoeuvre. I bought my Henry a few months ago from Homebase on one of their promo weekends and have had no probs with it. I have two long haired cats and a forever maulting gsd x rotty and its a breeze to clean up.
Yet on my honeymoon a few weeks ago we stayed in a rental cottage that had the Meile pet vac and it was horrible to use, yes it was a lot lighter than Henry but the cord was way too short only able to do one room at a time rather than whole house, the suction was poor even tho hubby stripped it down to check the bag weren't full or pipes blocked. I am now the fourth member that i know of to own a Henry and not have one complaint about it.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

Isnt it just so hard to know.? loads of peolpe love the Meile.
I agree the flex is generously long on Henry. Do you use the paper bags? i have a cloth one which I can empty and then wash (alone!) in the machine. I think this may be where the smell is coming from. Im too mean to keep buying replacement paper ones!
(daft, as Im currently considering spending £200)Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
Mine came with the disposable bags. My sis in law uses the round cistern blocks (cheap as poss) and throws them in under the bag and it seems to deodorise ans also fragrance the room at the same time. HTH.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

I bought the Miele Cat & Dog eventually, after years of buying Vacs that never really did a good enough job. It's not cheap I know, and I really had to steel myself to spend nearly £200 on a vacuum cleaner, but that was 4 years ago, and I have to tell you it's the single best appliance I have ever bought. It not only picks up animal hair with total ease it's also great for people like me who have very long hair, which used to get into all the carpets, particularly hard to clean from the stair carpets.
It works equally brilliantly on our wooden floors, carpets, and our marble floors. I wouldn't be without it.
Here's some reviews for it...100% 5 stars!

The Henry/Hetty has 10% off next week in Homebase as part of their weekend offers so will be reduced down to £76.**, HTH.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

Well < did it. I bought the Dyson DC25 Animal ball jobby.
Got a good price too!
I have vacuumed the house twice from top to bottom and am totally thrilled and amazed at the amount of dust I have lifted out. The carpets look brighter and no bad smell! (well not yet anyhow)
Id have to say it is a bit heavy and wouldnt be great for anyone with a weak wrist, but I can manage it fine. Flex could do with 2ft more, not as long as Henrys.
So far so good...its got a 5 year guarantee as well.
