Flowers from Tesco for Button holes???

Hi everyone,
I am trying to find out if I would be able to order flowers from Tesco (in store not online) in bulk.
I am having Gerbera's as my main flower for the day in Burgundy and at the moment Tesco are selling Germini flowers, 10 stems for £3 (bargin!:p) What I am hoping to do is use these flowers for buttonholes ( I have already done a trial run and they work really well) as they will keep the cost right down especially as we are hoping to have all the men attending the ceramony wearing one:eek:.
Has anyone else done this with Tesco or one of the other major supermarkets? How easy is it to use them as your supplier?
Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
SB

I'm not too sure, I know you can order grogery items if you pay the money up front. All I can suggest is you give thme a ring and ask, can't do any harm0

I bought all my flowers from Aldi and made bouquets and button holes the day before, sprayed them with water and put them in the fridge!!
Cost me about a fiver for the lot!!0 -
Linda - Did you pre order your flowers with the store or did you just go in and they had what you wanted?
Thanks for you help

I knew they always stocked a certain type. Roses. I just kept an eye on what was in about 2 weeks before the wedding. I also looked in Netto.0

i work for the big T and flowers come under my department. If you need a certain type of flower you can ask to order them but we have no control over what colour comes in especially with the Germini Racket as they come in one bucket with various colours. Good news is that the buckets are normally dominated with burgundy and they always seem to be the last colour left.0

Hi there
You may find it difficult to use the supermarket as a supplier. When I did some flowers for my friends wedding I noticed that the white tulips I wanted were much cheaper at Asda. I asked in store if I could order about 50 bunches of tulips but they couldn't do it. He told me that the stock that comes in isn't controlled by them and he couldn't be sure what colours and volumes were coming in as the boxes were mixed.
I ended up travelling to about 5 asda stores in my area the night before the wedding and got what I needed!!!
Worht an ask at Tesco though in case its different with them.
Good luck!

i had been wondering about ordering a big box of flowers from john lewis or next for about £30-£40 and arranging them into smaller bouquets. i figured from those places you're more likely to ensure getting better quality flowers, and at that price it would work out cheaper than ordering foam or silk flower bouquets from ebay!Mummy to

Thank you all so much for your help and suggestions!
Jay Jay - Thank you for this info, I do have several large stores near me however if they can't guarantee colours it might be difficult like you say. I was wondering if you know if they are likely to be able to get the flowers for late April next year? All the Germini Rackets seem to have appeared over the last few months and I am worried that they will not have them at that time of year?
thanks

they're a new line in store and popped up in june although the stores do a re-merch twice a year in october and apr/may so cannot guarantee they will still be selling them then but if they sell well they won't be discontinued. I'm not sure if they are seasonal though, if they are they it may well be that they won't have them.0

oooh i just found this info for you:
"Perfect for May Weddings and available all year round. A large daisy shaped bloom the gerbera is also available in a smaller 'Germini' variety."
doesn't necessarily mean we will sell them but you will be able to get them somewhere.0
