Natwest Debts with Triotono, offered a good settlement figure, can i claim after?

I have been in Payplan for a year and finally my two Natwest accounts got passed to Triton before I got to send my I/E sheets back for my hardship charges. I talked to Triton on the phone and they say I can pay off both accounts for £1850.00 (current debt is 3100.00 though that is much down to the fact they add charges and interst EVERY month as they didnt agree to Payplan offer). I estimate 2,500 is down to charges on both accounts over the years.

Mind you having said that it seems a reasonable deal (I bargained down from 2k to £1850). If I can get the money from my folks and pay the £1850.00 in "discounted settlement" of both accounts, can I still claim for charges or having settled does that wave any opportunity?

If someone could let me know and explain asap and whether the offer is a good one. I would be happy to carry on the Payplan way but they say thwy WONT stop interest so wont make any headway.

  • Hi, I'm new on here but can anyone help me with a question..??

Natwest have taken £300 out of my account without my permission from an old debt way back in 2003..I have phoned and complained and have explained my situation , i was made redundant and am in my overdraft..But to no avail..Is this Legal..?:money:

I really can't believe they can just take money like that out of a persons account..

    Many Thanks

James, please can you clarify when exactly the debt was from since if it was 6 years+ since the last correspondence to you or rather from you then it is statute barred and therefore I would be writing to the bank asking for an explanation and then taking it to the FOS after that.

Triton is part of RBS Group and the charges are in dispute and therefore under Debit Collection Guidance issued by the OFT they cannot chase or collect on a disputed debt. Finish off the I&E forms and send them back to NatWest and deal with them alone.
