i tried Avis for greek car hire. I tried trhe greek site, UK site and US site. However, when i claimed to live in america, the price was $120 (cheap for a week) when its EUR230 if i used the local site.

the US site doesnt have a pay now function so I asm stuck!

I think I'm right in saying this code looks good until mar 07 or until avis realises what we're up to.

    regards.

  • Hi I would also like to say thanks for the code we saved about £100 off car hire in August with Avis from Nice Airport, although be aware the person behind the counter may say something to you like he did us in broken French /English - you know the boss of Avis? You have massive 40% off!! I just looked dumb back at him and smiled!! I have to say I did feel a bit uncomfortable, what we gained from Avis however, was lost as my son’s Nintendo ds was stolen out of his case at Birmingham airport as we flew at the time you couldn’t take hand luggage. Such is life!

For trips to the US this is a brilliant discount code and far and away the cheapest I have found and boy do I troll around looking for good deals on US car hire. I have been hunting down car hire for a few weeks - I usually manage to find a real cheapie. I have also taken the advice of others who recommend that you book the compact car because 9 times out of 10 they don't have compact cars and will, at first, try to get you to pay for an upgrade, if you appear very grateful etc and say you can't afford it they usually give it to you. A friend has yet to receive a compact car plus I did some suck up last time I picked up from Fort Myers and we got a free upgrade from a full size to a premium. This time I am going to book the compact at £607.27 for 50 days and see what I can sweet talk into getting based on the length of the rental. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for this one gobbyash - even with websites that have the free upgrade off on this one is unbeatable at the moment - nice one!

PS Where did the code come from and what sort of excuse should I use if asked?......:(

Plus if they arent happy can they refuse to rent or increase the rate?

Innocent qs from a "virgin" car rental code user!
