PPI reclaim success against First Plus

I have just received a cheque from First Plus today.

We took out a loan with them (business debt and only option at the time) in 2005 and they persuaded us to take PPI.

After watch Martins money programme we decided to download his letters from this site and start the ball rolling to try and reclaim PPI. After a few letters, proceedure recommended from site, they made us a offer of £2500. The loan amount oustanding and add PPI would remain the same. We turned this down.

We decided to go to the Financial Ombudsman in Feb 08. We were kept undated every 3 months on progress as they were very busy. Eventually our case was asigned to someone who contacted us in June 09. Then in July he wrote to us with his findings and recommendations which First Plus and us agreed to. A letter was sent to FP on 14 Aug 09 saying they had 4-6 weeks to complete.

Today we have received a cheque for £5000 incl interest on PPI payments made and our account has been put to the position it would be without making PPI payments over the last 4 years.

It has taken 18 months from start to finish but most of that was waiting on someone to become free to take on our case. After that happened it was quite quick.

To anyone else in this situation, just persevere and keep going with your complaint. At the end of the day, it is not going to cost anything but time and patience. Big companies are not always going to win.

Good luck

I am so pleased for you and especially with FP as i have had personal issues with them myself and know how they manipulate. And what a wait too, but very worth it in the end. Well done.;)
