Hi All

Can you please let me know if this is a reasonable quote for a new ch system. Currently have 3 storage heaters and an old style boiler in a 2 bed flat.

I have been quoted £3200 for

removal of heaters and boilers
installation of 5 rads
installation new boiler
running all the pipe work
and all materials

Does this seem reasonable? Is there anything else I need to find out before i agree for the install as I think I might be going with this quote.

Forgot to say I live in London

Thanks

I think that seems pretty reasonable. just check what kind of boiler - decent makes are Worcester / Vailiant and check that the installer is GasSafe registered.

Good morning: very cheap for a complete CH system install in London. If you post the full specification we would be better placed to comment. Quote ideally should include make and model of boiler, length of warranty, where the boiler will be fit, type of pipework (copper or plastic), type of flue, condensate waste, scale inhibitor, programmable roomstat, TRVs, removal of all waste associated with the installation, completion of Benchmark Log, notification of the installation to Building Control via Gas Safe Register (where you can also check the installer's registration and qualifications). The installation should follow manufacturer's specifications.

Get more quotes, preferably from RGIs recommended to you by a a source you trust, and compare like for like as all installations are not equal.

    Good evening

    Quote received as follows

    Living room 6x14000dp
    hall 6x7000dp
    bath 6x500dp
    bed 1 6x1000dp
    bed2 6x 1000dp

to supply and fit vaillant 824 ecotec plus condensing combi boiler in kitchen cupboard as opposed to 2nd bedroom where it was before.
five rads fitted with thermostatic valves
    fit wireless room stat
    remove 3 electric storage heaters
run pipework to radiators as necessary

I noticed they did not mention removal of old boiler?????

as above how do i check how hot these get coz i dont like a cold house
also has anyone here got an ecotec 824 /reliability
they diod not give me the brand names of the radiators but which ones are highly recommended by people on here?
  • Hi my son is a plumber and i used to do quotes for the company he works for this is very good price for full central heating system combi boilers are a better option rather than a system boiler. I am sure the radiators you are getting will heat your whole house. Valiant is a good make of boiler. Check if you have a guarantee for workmanship and if boiler has extended warranty. Purmo is a good make of radiator. Give the company a call with your questions before you commit and and also ask about removal of old boiler. Anything is better than WMH. x

Just to close this thread off.
I had the heating installed by this company who are local to me. One other person quoted me 2800£ but from what he was saying he was going to put in smaller radiators single panel ones as well

The guy who did it was very tidy and neat. The only thing is on the last day when he turned them on the heating came on but there was no hot water coming out. He called Vaillant and they sent someone over the next day to sort it out.
    So its all sorted now.
Thank you all. Glad I did it as its getting cold now.

Eventually paid 3100£ as I changed the bathroom radiator to a chrome radiator
