Seiko Watches - Ebay

Options
Was on ebay the other night looking for a new watch, it has to be pink and i prefer it being waterproof and have the date function on it and also stainless steel or plastic as my wrist breaks out if anything else and found these 2 seiko watches both from the same seller watch 1 and watch 2 and these are selling for £60 ish (2) and £100 ish (1) what puzzles me is are they genuine or fake as they seem excellent prices but extortionate if fake:confused: I have looked into the rating of the seller and over 5000 with 100%. Any thoughts? As the expression too good to be true keeps ringing to mind but surely no one would pay £100 sometimes more for a fake watch?

What do you think?

Most probably genuine; check out ebay.com there are a lot of very good sellers in Singapore that I have used in the past. Used to buy them and resell on EBay UK. Had to send one or two to Seiko to fix a fault and and no problems.

Looks like the seller has great feedback - why would you think that the watches aren't genuine? One of the advantages on the online marketplace is that dealers can keeps their costs low and so undercut retailers who have to maintain a shop etc.

I've just checked some of the feedback, and some of them have sold for well over £300, I almost 100% sure this ebayer is for real

I researched these sellers last year when trying to buy one for my husband. They appear to be US spec watches, and Seiko price much, much cheaper in the US. They do not allow their US traders to sell in the UK. It is not an import duty thing so far as I am aware, it is more a protection of international prices, as when Levi tried to ban Tesco from selling 501s at £30.

This is an example of a US seller http://www.princetonwatches.com/shop/SXD655.asp - not the model you were after, but still perfectly presentable. You can see the difference in price to the UK market. Don't think these ones do ship to the UK, mind.

There are store based US sellers who will ship to the UK, by parcelling it differently - the main difference you would get is a US model, supported only by 1 year international warranty which means it would need to go to a UK agent rather than the dealer.

For me, we could not find the model we wanted, and bought a citizen instead.

I have to say this seller is very likely good, as you don't achieve that level of sales with poor quality or fake goods. He probably imports them on a parallel basis as per the Jeans above.

Do bear in mind that the final price will be way in excess of what you see right now, and perhaps have a look at the completed items for a better idea of the final sale.

It's a nice looking model, but do make sure you pay on a credit card so you also gain the benefits of S56 and S75 of the consumer credit act - extra protection if things go wrong.

    Happy hunting

The watches shown in the pictures are definitely real. They will be parallel imports from Asia wherethey can be purchased for far far cheaperthan in the UK.

Actually, I'd avoid this one like the plague! 1) 98.7% feedback 2) suggesting western union as a payment option 3) assorted threats in the spiel at the bottom.

I don't think the threats are that bad fairly standard for asian sellers who don't have the best grasp of English.

The watch is a 5 series and the price is about right; but at over £18 it will attract VAT and clearance fee (normally around £4)which as a percentage will be quite high.

One point to note if you buy in Singapore use the standard postage; DO NOT use a courier your charges will go through the roof. Couriers think of a number and double it!!

Also consider:- jaffwatches; premierworld; timeparadise and capitalmall. I used to buy from all these guys on .com and sell them on .co.uk when I started on EBay (ah those were the days...:) )
